Lance Armstrong
I am a huge fan of the Tour de France and so for the last five years, also, a Lance Armstrong fan. You've probably heard...cancer, nearly died, recovery, wins Tour four(now five) times in a row.
So now the problem. Lance appeared on the podium and allowed Arnold Schwarzenegger to present the yellow jersy. I just about puked. The evidence may be scant but I can't avoid believing that Armstrong is a Republican and as such I can not in good conscience continue to root for him.
He won anyway

2. ...
If I won the Tour, I'd probably take that from just about anyone. Even, believe it or not, a moderate Republican.

3. steroid user in the past, forgiven now.

Schwartzenegger, like most Republicans, has his sin and forgiveness. Praise Jesus.

*An American in Paris …One of the most inspiring stories over the past four years has been the success of Lance Armstrong. From his battle back from cancer, to his four consecutive victories in the Tour de France , Lance has been an inspiration to millions of people all over the world. This Saturday, he begins his drive for five in a row; a feat only accomplished one other time in the Tour’s 100-year history.

5. It's not the end of the world
if he's a Republican. I mean he didn't win the presidency de France. He's an amazing story (although not as amazing as Tyler Hamilton). And in these times when a Texan can get millions of Americans saying good things about France, it can't be all bad.

6. If Lance is a republican he can't care very much about
his Country!

And I'm saying "If".

7.  more LA
Hmm, could be that I'm hypersensative. I do have enormous respect for what Armstrong has accomplished as an athlete. Winning the Tour five times is huge. Also, I doubt he has a lot of time to spend on political ideology. (Maybe he's naive about republicans?)
Hamilton had a REALLY tremendous tour. Winning a stage with broken collar bone after a solo breakaway. He will go into legend. The French absolutely LOVE the solo breakaway,it's so heroic, but it almost never works. And Tyler rode alone for 95 miles. Superb.

8. I saw an interview
Where he said that everybody wanted him to thank God for surviving cancer, but it wasn't God who saved him after his cancer, it was his dedication and amazing doctors. That doesn't sound like a Republican thing to say, but I really don't know his party afiliation. If taking his accolades from a Republican is all the proof you have that he is one, that would be an anticedent.

Have you not seen him cohorting with ol' Curious George from time to time. I have. His story is still amazing though.

10. He is a Bicyclican.
Anybody here read "It's Not about The Bike"?

Lance cares about 3 things.
Winning the Tour de France, his family, and raising a buttload of money for Cancer research.

So how do you feel when the World Series Winners go have lunch with Chimpy? Do you run to your closet and tear up all their rookie cards?
Hell no, you don't.

I'll withold judgement until I see Unkle Karl spinning this for his charge somehow.

BTW, Lance hangs and parties with Robin Williams, too, so what's THAT tell you?

12. Lance isn't political
As far as I know. And he is France! :)

Although if he admits to winning the Tour de Freedom we may have a problem.

13. It's ok with me if he's a Republican
He's still an amazing (and cute) man who's kicked cancer, cares about funding cancer research, and, oh yeah, has won the most grueling cycling event 4 times in a row.
Sure, it sucks if he's a 'Puke, but it won't kill me.
