1. I'd like to know how it got there in the first place.
You can get it out with dish detergent, by the way.

5. see above
I got home and had to race to the toilet... and the less than 60 seconds between my relieving myself and my coming back into the family room, somebody had found a chapstick and decided to put it on her hair instead of her lips!

8. Ice
It should harden it enough so you can get it out!

6. Vinegar maybe.
Try a vinegar rinse-1/4 of vinegar, massage, rinse and then shampoo. Vinegar will take the build up out of hair from shampoo and styling products. It might be worth a shot.

7. My sister had a bad experience with Vaseline and hair
and her two kids. She thought it sounded a little too quiet and peaked in the other room to discover my adorable 2 year old niece covered in Vaseline and smiling.

Lots of Dawn dish soap works for Vaseline. Chapstick is in the same family, so you might give it a go. I've also heard that cornstarch can help.

Good luck.

9. Dish soap
cuts grease and shouldn't irritate your scalp too much.
