In one of the threads, someone was expressing disgust with today's events and stating that he/she no longer considered himself/herself a Democrat. You wouldn't believe the number of people who told this person to leave DU if they felt this way, even though Democratic Underground is a place for all progressives.

Then again, maybe you would believe it. Maybe people just feel like being held for awhile after attempting to evict longtime posters.

I am one of those people.

If you are no longer going to support the democartic party, then why post?

We need people to fight for for the the party, not freak out and DIE!!!

I am totally for ANYONE who dosen't want to vote/ fight for the Demo's... see ya!

I don't want to go further into politics than I already have in a place that's reserved for non-political talk.

But the answer to your question about not supporting the Democratic Party has something to do with supporting progressive causes, and not necessarily the often-corrupt and ineffective apparatus of the party itself. To me, it's about the issues, and not the party itslef.

i agree 100%. it's the issues that need to be fought for, not a specific party.

vote anybody makes is for Majority Leader.

Without control, our issues don't even come up.

I guess, I've almost gone somewhat the other way.
