Traffic stop for broken light leads police to 760 pounds of pot
http://www.startribune.com/467/story/218533.html

OWATONNA, Minn. — Two men from Bakersfield, Calif., were arrested after the Minnesota State Patrol found nearly 760 pounds of marijuana hidden in the trailer they were hauling.

John Gordon Mains, 54, and Ernie Douglas Diffee, 52, were charged with first-degree sale and possession of a controlled substance and importing controlled substances across state borders.

They were arraigned in District Court in Owatonna on Monday. Authorities said the men were stopped Friday night on Interstate Hwy. 35 because the trailer had a burned out light.

Note to self: be sure taillights work on trailer when hauling 760 lbs of pot through Owatonna.

But rest assured it's someone who doesn't mind going back to jail. It's called the Decoy, the distraction, so that the real shipment can get thru without any problem. When I asked one of the Sheriff's deputies I used to work with about this he said they do what they can, and as long as their final destination isn't Oklahoma they don't give a shit. Isn't that nice?

16. They probably have enough meth in Owatonna
The stuff is all over rural Minnesota. There's probably as many meth labs per capita here as there are in Bakersfield.
