$#@%&* Japanese Beetles
The little S***s are ruining our cherry trees and vegetables. I've been spraying them with sevin but they just keep coming. Set up beetle traps but no way that will deal with all of them. I don't want to go super toxic with the poison. Hope some of you guys have some ideas. Thanks.

I just ignore them...bout all you can do, really. (the traps I used once in my gardens actually attracted them, rather then repelled them)..

2. Thanks
but they have already killed two of our trees and I can't afford to ignore them. Same with the veggies, we depend on frozen and canned veggies during the winter. Sevin is the mildest poison I can find (sounds stupid I know), maybe there's something out there less toxic that works. Thanks

5. Netting
Have you tried any netting? I am not sure if that would work, but it is better than spraying that toxic stuff.

3. Give the traps to your neighbours....
Tell them to set 'em up in the corner of their yard farthest away from yours.

We have trees here that have had their leaves totally skeletonized!

When I die, if I wind up in something out of a Jack Chick tract standing nekkid in front of The Guy With No Face, there's a few things i wanna ask hime before he pushes the button and drops the trap door under me.
WHY: Cockroaches, cold weather, tornadoes, George Bush, Japanese Beetles, Mosquitos and Ann Coulter amongst other questions.

Oh my! I've just named the Seven Plagues of Murka!

4. I cannot stand those things
They eat my flowers up every year. I usually just pick them off and kill them. Be careful spraying that crap though; you will kill beneficial insects as well. You could also purchase some praying mantis's if you can find a place in your area that sells them. They will eat them up in a jiffy. I live in NC, and I haven't seen nearly as many this year. Also, do not buy any of those crazy traps that they sell. A neighbor of mine did that a couple of years ago, and it attracted every damned beetle in the state!

6.  I think we bought
an awful lot of milky spore and applied it to the ground
3-4 times in one year. It takes a while to spread which
is why we used so much.

7. Take the fake traps
and put them far away from your trees, but close enough that the Jap Beetles can smell 'em, cuz they just can't be trusted.

or else go with the Shrub ideology of prevenitng forest fires by cutting down all the trees...
