When I had a photo business, its name was Shades of Gray.

10. It wasn't just the play on words

(I did mostly black-and-white photography.)

It also came from one of the best songs the Monkees ever recorded, written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil:

6. The Random House Manual of Style says either is acceptable;

and though I know that "gray" is more popular in the US, I still prefer "grey" for some unknown reason.

For whatever that information is worth to anyone (probably not much).

14. What's non-phonetic? Either one works phonetically, but is

pronounced (this is true) just a shade differently.

I mean, "Howzitgoin', ey?" just doesn't look right. I can't think of any other words where "ey" is used to denote the long a sound. (Although my memory might be failing me.)

I'm doing alright. The nasty infection was last week, and I'm pretty much fully recovered. I just still have 10 lbs. of crap in my lungs. It will pass.

8. I used to get corrected all the time for spelling differently.

I prefer grey to gray.
Flavour to flavor.
Colour to color.

Maybe it was the books I read when I was younger?

Before work he sits here with me and we go through LBN, then take a look at GD. Generally after work we watch tv or a movie or whatever. He's not as much of a net person since he started working again. :)

We didn't discover it until after he started working again- I know he enjoys LBN and GD but I don't know whether he'd want to post. He reads all the time though. :)
I'm sure if we had discovered it much earlier he would have registered and starting to post. BTW, he's the one who donated, not me. ;)
