pictures of a sad and beautiful ceremony for one of our soldiers

A photo slide from RockyMountainNews.com.

This is quite moving and a great tradition. Don't know if you have seen before, either way, worth it the second time.

I wonder how many Americans will ever see these pictures and read the story? Not enough, I'm afraid.

A touching ceremony. Thanks for reminding us wildhorses...my heart is breaking today. These boys and girls and men and women should still be with us. :( :hug: Thanks again, we need to see these. I've reached my breaking point...that poor little boy. He wasn't even grown up yet.

24. It's so hard
to read and hear about day after day, yet we MUST keep their memories alive. It breaks my heart too, my son is 23 in may of this year. I cannot IMAGINE losing him, ever .. never. Life would cease. :cry:

:hug: MrsG!

you're right, he wasn't even grown up yet :( :cry: :(

23. How beautiful and heartbreaking.
Ritual and ceremony are very comforting at such sad times. My father in law had a veteran's funeral. I remember watching the members of the honor guard folding the flag with that crisp precision, and then handing it to my mother in law. I was mesmerized. It helped me to hold back the tears. It was, I don't know, so brave and to the point, somehow. Words can't explain. At least my father in law was old and had survived his war and raised a family. Sigh.

:cry: And incredible to think that a nation that was disenfranchised and subjected to what amounts to attempted genocide serves in such great numbers. These photos leave me speechless.

28. Rest in peace, Marine
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I saw this yesterday and I cried...thought it well worth the recommendation, but did not post.

Tried to explain the photos to someone last night and just ended up crying again...it just so moving.
