1. Wow congratulations!
and good that you haven't ripped anyone a new one yet...you may as well save credits for that one...you might still need them ;-)

(and it wasn't even noticable in your moderating during a stressful weekend)

:toast:

BTW...thankyou for being a mod...you are truly great at it.

2. That is just awesome!
Keep up the good work, and if something gets you stressed out and you feel the urge to light up, come here first and talk about it in the Lounge if you're able. It may just make the difference. :)

5. Incredible...
You were actively moderating this weekend and appeared very relaxed. I would have been pulling my hair out. Glad you have it under control and hope you can keep it up. I smoked up to 3 packs a day for 18 years before quitting in 1991. I'm a wuss about pain and it took me well over a year to quit. Sounds like you just put the bastards down. Congratulations!

Yes, you rock! :yourock:

As someone who lost both of my parents to smoking-related illnesses, I'd like to commend you on your decision to quit. Hang in there, stay strong, and know that your life, and the lives of those who love you, will be richer for it.

Congrats!

But have you axed, shorn, ripped, knifed, chopped, hatcheted, burned, vaporized, blown, cleaved, or otherwise caused the removal of a head that wouldn't be defined as "torn"?

18. I Wish You Better Luck Than I Had
I tore a new orifice in the nicest guy I knew one day after 3 weeks.

Halfway through the exchange, I realized what I was doing and went out to buy another pack...burned one and apologized to my friend.

You might have a few "spikes" a couple of weeks from now, but get past that, and you're pretty much home safely.

Years ago, i quit when I have a bad bout of bronchitis -- so I got a bit of a jump on the days that way. Whatever works.

Hang in there -- :toast:

24. yahoo for you!!
Goodonya BigMcLargehuge.

It's an evil addiction. You've flushed all the nicotine out of your system by now (about 10 days) so all that's left is the psychological addiction. Which is huge. Remember a craving only lasts about 30 seconds. It just feels like eternity.

I found that varying my routine was helpful. I moved the furniture around, so that I couldn't go home and smoke in my favorite chair. I stopped drinking coffee for a bit. I had to avoid smokers for a while.

I craved 'em for a year and a half after I quit.

It's been 13 years since my last Old Gold.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

26. i think smoking is a two pronged problem
first, it is a drug delivery system.

second, it is something to do with one's hands.

so, that leads me to believe that you have found something else to do with your hands! i mean, OTHER than watching porno.....

:-)

and besides, you SMELL a LOT better!!

keep up the good work.

27. Congratulations BigMcLargeHuge!
Although I have never smoked, I have heard it's not easy to quit. I wish you success through the stressful holiday season.

I want to give up Mountain Dew but don't want to suffer through the headaches I know will come. I am thinking of not "dewing" the Dew beginning Christmas weekend (we get a four day weekend) because then I can go through caffeine withdrawals away from work.

31. I gave up coca cola a year ago
I was drinking 12+ cans a day.

What I did was switch to cranberry juice for something sweet, tea with honey in the afternoon for caffeine, and seltzer water for the texture of coca cola that I wanted more than any of the other sensations.

It was easy.

30. Eighteen Days
Eighteen days now, and I'm having a hard time of it - closing on a house this Friday, dealing with issues at work, and the one thing I'd like to do right now is light one up and ignore the world for awhile.

Hitting the rack now - 0530 comes oh too early, but have to get my daughter up and on the road - and there's another reminder for me about why I'm quitting - I want to be around for her for a while - a looong while
