I got my first Radiohead album yesterday.
OK Computer. It was a really interesting album. They have been compared to Pink Floyd (another band I like). Some have categorized them with progressive rock. People say that they are the ligheter version of Tool. Some of the stuff from Dream Theater's 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence was definitely influenced by both of these bands.

1. not a bad one to start with................

alot of people consider OK Computer to be their best album, it's a great one without a doubt but i'm still partial to The Bends, it's the one I go back to the most.....really like the new album but I wouldn't say it's their best work yet........

in their catalog, though The Bends falls right in behind it. My order of Radiohead goodness.

1. OK Computer
2. The Bends
3. Hail to the Thief
4. Kid A
5. Pablo Honey
6. Amnesiac (not only their worst, one of the worst albums ever produced by anyone, anywhere, ever.)

6. I liked it. It was better than Kid A or Pablo Honey at least
HTTT and the My Iron Lung EP are my personal favourites.

9. I love Amnesiac!
My favorite is also OK computer but Amnesiac has some great tracks. I'm not into their first two albums really. Kid A is my least favorite but I still appreciate it.

7. Lighter version of Tool?
Radiohead is highly experimental. I don't always like all of there stuff but there are definitely many layers to it and it is highly progressive musically.

Tool just take riffs and repeat them ad nauseum. That's not a bad thing since I like plenty of bands which do that formula, but I've never seen where they get the prog rock tag.

8. Radiohead is the best rock band out there today.
OK Computer and Hail to the Thief are absolute masterpieces.

The Bends and Kid A are also very good, but The Bends has a bit too much of a "Third Eye Blind" kind of feel to it, and Kid A is starting to move a little too far in the crazy "Amnesiac" direction- it's minimalist, and a little pretentious.

However, OK Computer and Hail to the Thief are, IMO, two of the best albums ever made. They weren't written- they were composed. After you've listened to them to the point of familiarity, try listening to them with headphones....you'll suddenly hear little "bleeps" and "bloops" you never knew were there before.

P.S. Listen for the microwave ding at the very, very end of OK Computer...."Your dinner is ready."
