Anyone else see the 911 abuse story on GMA today?

How awful that people use 911 for things like asking the time when there might be someone out there truly needing 911 service, BUT the woman wanting a cop to come down to Burger King and force them to make her a Western bbq burger the way she wanted it, and the woman who couldn't get through to Pizza Hut had me giggling.

And boy, I've seen some 9/11 abuse! As a working musician, I have had two potential clients try to book gigs on Sept. 11 (a wedding reception and a corporate party) who wanted a discount, because, ya know, 9/11. As in: "If we book a gig on 9/11, do we get a discount? Nevermind that our function has absolutely NOTHING to do with 9/11, and we won't be making any donations to any 9/11 funds or anything, but can we have a discount?"

Both clients were rejected, at any price.

5. We were quite taken back, especially since we did a gig 4 days after 9/11

It was a wedding reception, the bride and groom were from Manhattan, and many, many guests were from NYC. This group wanted NO mention of the events of the past week, no somberness or eulogizing - they wanted to detach and have fun, if only for a few hours.

It was one of the best gigs we ever did - bridal party dancing with waitstaff on tables, and six (SIX) encores!

8. That's sounds like a great time. My girlfriend was married the

weekend before, and they were "trapped" in Hawaii...Because Flights went out on Monday morning but then all incoming flights were stopped, she said it felt as if they had the islands to themselves...and really enjoyed hanging out with the natives. :)

Because these idiots tie up the line for real emergencies. BEing charge $100 for stupidity will teach you real quickly to not do it again!
