Very Down Right Now...Job Threatened

I am very depressed right now. I have been working at UCF for 10 years and until the last few months have really enjoyed my job. Today I received my annual review--it makes it sound like I am a complete incompetent, borderline moronic, and a borderline racist. Because of this, even if I am up for another position in the company, according to the rules I can interview because I have an unsatisfactory evaluation. I am very concerned because I am the sole support of my husband. He just started dialysis 3 times a week. Trying to be positive.

3. Reviews can suck

My last review when teaching was deliberately skewed and misrepresented due to a principal who had decided she wanted to move up the administration ladder at the expense of several teachers' careers besides mine. Up until that review, all my other reviews had been excellent. I was blindsided. It was demoralizing, to say the least.

So, have to ask...

Are there people who want you to do poorly? Is there a hidden agenda with your employer?

This shit happens.

4. I am going....

to fight this review. Situation is very political right now also. I think that our office manager is very weak. Her husband's business failed and she is in a very bad spot financially. I need my job too, but I am in a slightly better situation than she is. The current director was hired in the summer of 2004 and I wonder what he was told about me. I have been working for 30 plus years and this is the first unsatisfactory review I have ever received--I have been let go for a downturn in the economy that sort of thing but I've never received a poor review.
