My First Post

For several months I have hung around reading….

Several times I wanted to join in the fray, conversation, or just talk a wee-bit-of-rebellion; however, questioned my ability to be urbane, witty and sardonic with my first post. First impression and all that rot, you know.

So here goes, take me or leave me….this is my best.

My DU Provenance (Why I might belong):

I cannot think of one solitary thing Bush has done that he could be proud of doing.

I think the Republicans are wrong on everything and at every level.

I think Republicans lied to us on every policy issue for the last 50 years.

I spent time at Camp Crawford and Freedom House in August (mostly hauling ice and people)

I was in DC for the September 24 Anti-war march , there really was over 350,000 people there marching against Bush and the Republican war.

Last Election I supported Kerry, but wanted Wes Clark or John Edwards.

I have never voted for a Republican, did date a young republican once…have had therapy since.

I don’t believe the Iraq war is a legal war, or that is has increased our security.

I did support going after the Taliban and al qeada in Afganhistani.

I do support our troops, unless they act outside of our values.

The Tax cuts are for the rich and should be rescinded.

I am for universal health care and think the current system is substandard

I think the wiretaps are illegal and unconstitutional, Bush should be impeached, but that it will not happen as long as the Republicans are in power.

I am for a living wage, unions, equal rights (I haven’t given up on that one), civil rights, a court that is dedicated to justice, reexamining the drug laws, tightening the laws for white collar crime, changing the laws relating to corporations,,,,,,whew, I could go on, but, no one like someone long winded.

So let me just say hello and thank you for letting me join.

my shirt would be totally soaked by nine. Lots of great folk down there...

This was taken on a day when it was over 100 degrees and the heat index had to be at least 110. This lady could have stayed in AC comfort, but she just had to come see Cindy. This picture makes me want to cry; it says so much about Camp Casey and the kinds of people who were there.

sorry to say I didnt meet or do I remember that lady, but, there were many, many more, met one lady, over 70 who had driven up from Houston...said she just felt the need to be part of the movement.

for a Take Back America conference. Wish I could make both...but, only so many frequent flyers. I need my VW bus back...and some friends for the road.

I will attempt to be a good citizen. Please, let me know if I stray.

than I every heard it from conseratives. More than once at Casey, Crawford and DC I was greeted with "welcome home" and they meant it everytime. Thanks and welcome home to all the other "bros"

I go through periods where I post 20 times a day then go a month with only one or two posts. Keep coming back to read and post. It is great to have you here.

I think you are probably more progressive/liberal than I am. We will probably have some good discussion. Keep being open and honest with you feelings and you will get tons of responses. Don't mind the crazy DUers, most of us are very nice. Just don't feed the animals.
