will now recite a poem I remember from years gone by: ahem

"My kitty has a motor
It makes a gentle purr
No need to push a starter
I just rub her fur.
And when I rub in winter
She crackles with a spark
and her eyes turn into headlights
when she walks out in the dark."

All three are feral adoptees, Hannah was the first. When she "adopted" us (showed up one day and flopped down on our porch), we had 15 ferrets. So, from the movie "Hannah and her Sisters" came Hannah (and her Ferrets).

Tate (Little Man Tate or The Tater Tot) was trapped on a friend's horse farm. Initially, he was named Little Man Tate by my friend, but we took to calling him Tater TOTS (because he sits at the Top Of The Stairs and makes Hannah run "The Gauntlet" at feeding time). It was shortened to Tater Tot, or just plain 'ol Tate.

Charlie was plucked from the center of a busy bridge (he was right between the yellow lines, with cars rushing past 6" away at 50 m.p.h.), so he's got a strong survival streak (we named him Darwin, but he's always Charlie or Chuckie).

Poor Charlie! Sounds a bit like our Gloria, hubby found her in the middle of the road pregnant, starving and sick. We named her for Gloria "I will survive" Gaynor. Mac is named for the computer and Trouble, well, her name is self explanatory. Hubby says he wishes we had named her Sleepy instead. All rescued kitties who really lucked out landing where they did.
Do you still have so many ferretds?

Only four we purchased, the rest were rescues. Thank God our friends with the horse farm are veterinarians with their own practice (ferrets get lots of exotic and expensive diseases, especially cancers). I installed all of their computer systems and software, so I get Priority One service from them.

Charlie was a real find. We spotted him as we approached, and I thought he was a toy (because he did not move at all). When I realized it was a kitten, I turned around and ran out to get him (in the middle of rush hour - many angry horn honks as I was completely blocking traffic in both directions, but I held the kitten aloft for all to see, and the angry honks became cheers!). His only injury? A small scrape on his chin! He's definitely a survivor.

mikeytherat, you are OK by me! And soulercoaster sounds great. Just took a look at the band's site, looks like a fun group playing happy music. My oldest son is studying electric bass at Berklee, he's a first year student. He loves it! His band plays progressive rock, all original material. It's pretty "out there" stuff.

P.S. Gloria was dancing to her theme song, I swear! She says your band is awesome!

I am afraid I can't respond to each post in a timely manner so this is my catch all post. Special thanks to the wiley and most excellent boy cat named Ginger for his tribute to Althea. DU cats are not only gorgeous, they are also very multi talented! I think we need to take a DU kitty census some day, there must be hundreds of DU cats at the very least.
