There is a Civil War in this country and its going to get worse

I am seeing the seething and rage get worse daily..Ive been called an asshole, a jerk, been told to move to Iraq, been tailgaited, my husband has been harassed, beeped at, given the finger, had our car keyed, had someone dent it, and it seems to be happening more each day..all because I am anti war...
so now, do I attack these peoples vehicles? no...do I yell at them? no...I respect their First Amendment rights.
Nonetheless, I am now officially cut off from my brothers, sister, and their wives and husbands because I told them the truth.
My mother said, you know, this is like the Civil War...the country is at each others throats and this coming year it will get worse.
I wont back down.

I thought this was supposed to be "class warfare" (and still seems so on capital hill) but a bunch of poor people have gotten confused into being angry over the wrong things... Maybe that's the plan - divide and conquer.

If we ever back down, we'll lose. Thank God you have your husband and DU to support you. I'm sorry your family doesn't talk to you because of your beliefs. When people start to put their politics before their families, you know they have to be off their nut. When are people going to stop and think about what they are doing to each other? I'm sure whenever whoever started this world, they never envisioned a place where we'd kill each other physically, spiritually, and emotionally over dirt, beliefs, and petty shit.

Rush Limbaugh, in his first week back, spoke of "crushing" Democratic opposition, using language not unlike that used to discuss the Iraqi resistance.

It is going to get uglier before it gets better.

The biggest problem is that we have a goodly sized chunk of the population which has an entire world view formed by AM Talk Radio and the Fox New Nework.

How does one go about reconstruction or a "deNazification" program with these people that is consistent with the Constitution?

I've had antiwar bumperstickers on my car ever since 9/11 -- also, when everybody put up flags, we put up a huge peace sign banner on our house...

And to my surprise, not a single bad experience. Every now and then someone will yell "ATTACK IRAQ!" from their car (responding to my "ATTACK IRAQ? NO!" bumpersticker), but that's far from harassment, to the contrary: that's perfectly within the realm of free speach.

But then again, I live right outside of NYC.

I am hearing normally sane, rational people (and a few not-so sane, which is scarier) talk about revolution. Most prominently, a certain Repub has been talking about giving up on art and *leading* the revolution.

I'm scared.

I always remember that people were attacked and even murdered during the first Gulf war for being against the war.
Guess I'm pointing out the obvious, but it's always thugs on the right who resort to violence first, attacking people in order to intimidate or kill them. I agree that it's going to get worse. Be vigilant. There's no question that you're in an area where some yokel could decide to attack you. It might be a good idea to get some weapons.
