Thank you all!!!! (and ask me anything)
For answering my post yesterday!! I wish I could respond to everyone cause you all were so sweet and asked some great questions ... but rather than kick my old post back up, I'll just say thank you :-) and give you all a big :grouphug:

There was one thing I wanted to clear up ... I'm not a single mom. I'm married (husband is a police dispatcher/911 call-taker) and yes, I have three kiddos 6 and under. Someone also asked what I'm studying in school ... I just graduated with my BA in Political Science last May and started back this fall working towards my MA in Political Science. I'm also a research assistant for a professor studying suicide bombings and political violence between Israel and Palestinians. Although I work VERY few hours (just 10hrs/week for 10 out of the 16 weeks in a semester), and am grossly underpaid (aren't we all???), I enjoy it. All that doesn't leave much time for anything else.

I'll probably stay in school until the economy picks up since I have a sizable amount of student loans that will need to be paid back once I'm out. There just weren't any jobs out there last summer, I couldn't even get a call back on a part-time job! So I'll stay in school :-) Anyone who needs a pep talk about being in school with a family - I'm your girl!

And a HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to my sponsor, whoever you are! I JUST noticed the STAR next to my name !!! THANK YOU!!!!!

:loveya:  :loveya:  :loveya:  :loveya:

1. Wahhh...I wanted to get an MA and do political research too.
Too bad my grades stunk, and I couldn't get into the grad school of my choice. If I can find a woman to support me, I'll go back to school. :7

5. Good luck finding that woman!
My husband wants me to support him someday, but his mother is insisting he keep working (she knows he'll sit on his tush all day and do nothing while I'm at work!) :-)

2. I missed your other post...
...but since I can ask you anything:

Isn't DU WAY better than any other political forum on the web?

4. fellow poor grad student here...
And I know exactly how you feel (although I don't have kids). I need a pep talk!! I have the hardest time getting focused and keep wasting time on DU.
hm... maybe we need to start a virtual grad student support group on the lounge? or would that be just another excuse for procrastination? ;)

6. Hehe!
I know, I have two large papers due next week and here I am hanging out on DU!

I think that support group is a good idea ... And here's your pep talk to get you through the rest of the semester!

"Just think of all the free time you'll have in a couple of weeks to enjoy Winter break without the worry of papers/exams/projects (insert whichever one applies to you!) hanging over your head like an anvil! Now find yourself a place free of distraction and study/write/create like you never have before!!"

Somewhat spur-of-the-moment, but hope it worked a little! You can get through the semester, and when you're done, you'll feel a lot better for having completed it!

8. Hey Amandae!
I told you I would stop by to say "Hi!" if I saw a thread from you. Aren't these Duers the most incredible people ever! And you look so stunning with that star next to your name. A big thank you to whoever did that. :)

9. A Tardy But Hardy Greeting!
Missed the other thread, but here I am....

WELCOME! :hi:

I'm jealous as heck that you got a welcome thread all your own.....for some of us, it's kinda cold and lonely here. So, after all this warmth directed your way, doan forget to watch for some of the rest of us, and give a warm "howdy", too, eh? Would be most appreciated!

Kanary, who craves a howdyhug... ^_^

10. No. Thank you, amandae
I was just about to leave DU forever until I happened upon this thread. Now I think I'll stick around a little longer. It's sort of like a party where a few people have gotten into a nasty mood and you feel like leaving early then you run into this one person that seems to rise above the clutter and you realize it's not such a bad party after all.

11. OK, I'll ask: Why do fools fall in love?

Why do birds sing so gay?
And lovers await the break of day?
Why do they fall in love?

I'm waiting....
