to dry the pads of my oboe. Once there are a bunch of them lying around that no longer absorb moisture, I put them in an ashtray and set them alight!

One of the best days in science class, ever! Well, it made more of an explosion than any sustained burning, but it was a hell of a thing. I think the professor enjoyed it at least as much as the class did, too.
