I have a jazz band concert tonight. I'm first chair alto sax. I have a twenty measure solo.

I also have a fat lip.

Ouch.

8. I dunno if this is truth or folklore, but

legend has it that the Glenn Miller "sound" was born when his first trumpet split his lip during rehearsal the night before the band's first gig. Miller had to rearrange "I Know Why" and he did it with the clarinet-trombone lead that became the band's signature sound.

So you may be soon to be a part of music history.
