Registering a Car in Iowa
How do you do? How do you get plates? Do they accept credit cards there? Is it expensive?

Same question for getting drivers' licenses.

2. It's pretty easy, as I recall.
I can't remember whether or not they accept credit cards, though. Just go down to the DMV with your title and they'll walk you through it.

18. CCs vary by county, I think. Mine >
takes only Discover, oddly enough.

3. It's like anywhere else.
Cost depends on age of vehicle.

I think you have to take written test but not the driving test, as long as your current driver's license is still valid.

14. In Illinois, age of vehicle is not a factor in license plate cost.
I knew Massachusetts had that setup, but not Oklahoma.

6. OK, so you landed in Iowa.
Best of luck, and look it up before somebody tells you that you can get a DL/Registration very quickly in Iowa by showing up at the DMV nude from the waist down with a "Hello Kitty" balloon tied to The Lads.....

9. Info is in your local phone book
County courthouse or administration building for the plates, DMV for the license. If you drive a new car, truck or SUV plates cost way more than if you drive a 10 year old car like I do. My plates are only $21 a year.

Metal, cyramic or plastic?
No they don't accept credit cards in Iowa..in fact it's a creditless state.
Have you called an insurance place?
Have you called the DMV?

15. How about...
Answering a politely asked question politely, instead of being nasty, if you have any idea on what the answer is? I don't want to hear any responses regarding past posts on DU by the person asking the question.
