Anyone else having a hard time getting motivated today?
I had a burst of energy and cleaned up my office really well, but the rest of my house needs my attention and I'm not having much luck separating my ass fom my chair, even though I'm bored.

Any tricks for getting going or sympathy from people dealing with the same issue this afternoon?

It's already night here and was raining all day. And it's Saturday. Motivation was defeated. ;)

I feel the same exact way. I have about 5 tests coming up in the early part of this coming week and I know I need to study. I'm just too washed out to be able to concentrate right now though. Thought I would take this day to rest and then stick my nose back in the books tomorrow. I did cook some stir fry earlier, but since then even warming up some spaghettios might as well have been calculating quantum physics problems for me. I'm a master at killing time, so today is mine to massacre. Some days you just have to take a day, or the rest of the day, for yourself. Screw it. There is plenty of time during the rest of the week for motivation. I've got no motivation normally though.

9. Heck Yeah....I am Sooooooooo Lazy Today!
My significant other went away this weekend with some buddies and although I'm happy with him I was thinking how nice it will be for us to have break from each other and all of the things I would do. Well, it is now after 5:00 pm and I'm still in my pajamas. All I could manage to do today was play a game of Scrabble with my son and almost fell asleep during that. I did mop the kitchen floor and wash a load of clothes. That's it. The rest of the day I've been lounging around watching music videos. I want to go out to eat or to the movies, but I'm too lazy to shower, dress and go out in the cold. Hahahaha!

13. I'm off work at three
I'm going to try to get at least some of the household stuff done then. I figure if I fold the baskets of clothes in the liging room, take out the trash and make the beds that's a pretty good start. I can try to get more done tomorrow since I won't have to balance it all with work.

I was up late doing laundry and I'm sore from falling asleep on the sofa so I shouldn't push myself too hard today.

Long time no see. I've been up to my ears in math, the funny fourletter word kind that uses letters. I'm honestly waiting for my english teacher to start telling us to organize words into equations. I can't remember them all.

26. Are you good at calculus and algebra and trig?
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 05:57 PM by Jamastiene
That is the type of math I am trying to learn right now. I'm pretty good at the basic number related maths, but when they start throwing u's and v's and 2 line long equations with nothing but letters, I tend to freak. Plus there is a time limit on the tests. I can do the homework, but I freeze on the tests, sadly.

Hope you start feeling better soon. My teachers in both my Pre-calc trig and English classes yesterday were having trouble with their throats and couldn't hardly talk. I felt the same way, but I didn't have to stand up in front of the class and talk for 50 minutes. I couldn't have. They sounded like they were getting laryngitis or something.

38. You know SOHCAHTOA?
That was the first thing I ever remembered about trig. Sine = opposite/hypotenuse, cosine = adjacent/hypotenuse, tangent = opposite/adjacent.

Getting more advanced, there are some "identities" that we remember:

sin(A + B) = (sin(A) * cos(B)) + (sin(B) * cos(A))
cos(A + B) = (cos(A) * cos(B)) - (sin(A) * sin(B))

also, sin(-A) = -sin(A) because sine has rotative symmetry about the origin,
and cos(-A) = cos(A) because cosine has reflective symmetry about the origin

Therefore:

sin(A - B) = (sin(A) * cos(B)) - (sin(B) * cos(A))
cos(A - B) = (cos(A) * cos(B)) + (sin(A) * (sin(B))

I don't know how advanced your maths course is. If it is only basic then you probably won't need to know the identities.

39. The identities are exactly what the test is going to cover
along with algebraic trig equations, the sum-product identities, double and half angle identities. I'm confused just trying to remember the terminology. What would cause me to freak and my mind to just shut down when dealing with math? I'm fairly bright at most other things.

42. I think maths uses a very specific kind of intelligence
and not being able to grok it does not mean you are dumb. Plenty of clever people are not much good at maths, and quite a few people who are good at maths aren't much good at much else.

But see, these identities are just rote learning. You can do it! Just write them down over and over again until you can reproduce them without having to look them up.

Exactly the same way I got through my chemistry exams. :)

cleaned the litter boxes, dropped off one kid, got the oil changed, did the grocery shopping, started dinner, picked up one kid to drop her off elsewhere and I'm pooped. maybe tomorrow. 48. Nope.
I put the kitchen cabinets back together today after painting them yesterday. I replaced all the outlet and switch plates in two rooms. I put together a new loft bed for my daughter, and set up the extra bedroom as a guest room and den. I helped sort laundry and folded and put it away. I went shopping. Oh, and I made pasta with italian sausage for dinner.

Now I'm relaxing...
