I'm done!!! I'm done!!! Yay!!! I'm done!!!
I just turned in my last two assignments for my paralegal certificate. I should have my grades soon (maybe tomorrow). That was 14 weeks of fun. I learned a lot actually. Of course, my new job has nothing to do with being a paralegal, but I bet something I learned comes in handy. And now I have another marketable skill!

So, for me! Whew!

Hey, it's not MY fault the cops didn't get a warrant.

12. I've thought about the certificate.
Did you take the course at a local community college or via correspondence (or internet)?

13. Via correspondence.
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 07:46 PM by GOPisEvil
A lot of unversities contract with the same school, so while our certificates have the name of the school we registered through, we all took our classes from the same place.

Oh, just FYI, it's accredited, but not by the American Bar Association. ABA-accredited schools are a bit more prestigious. However, I've found that most places just want a certificate. Having a certificate and a Bachelor's degree is also a good thing. :)

16. Can you pm me the info sometime if you have a chance?
In order for me to get a certificate I would have to drive an hour and a half to take classes. I've thought about correspondence but have been unsure if it would be accredited or not.

17. I can give you the website right here.
www.legalstudies.com

Once you pick a course, select online, then search for schools offering the courses. Register through the school of your choice. The tuition should be the same for all schools. The basic paralegal course is two 7-week sessions and is $995. Books were $265. You have weekly reading assignments, a weekly written assignment and a weekly test. All written assignments are due Friday at 9:00am (however my instructor changed this to Sunday). It's very convenient.

22. I will.
I'm interested in the course and I think that I could complete it, even w/ my schedule!

Turns out I was wrong on their certification-nearest school is on the other side of the state. I'd be looking at a five and a half hour drive if I had to attend class.

23. I registered through a school out of state.
I learned of this course through their catalog, and signed up. If there's a school that has a good "name", you can pick that one.
