It's probably one of the greatest albums ever made.

I am not denying that it is very good.

But everyone knows the album. So if I tell people that I like Dark Side, or if I listen to it excessively, I just end up sounding like a casual radio listener or someone who likes to listen to Floyd while he gets stoned (which is true, but thats another story).

but there's a reason for it: it's great!

have you ever tried the wizard of oz thing?

I read somewhere that it is one of the least liked Floyd albums, but I could never understand why. It's one of my favorites (or should I say favourites?).
