Has DU changed your mind on any issues?
DU I think has really contributed to my expansion. It has brought to me
a greater understanding of certain issues. It has changed my mind on gun control.

1. Before DU, I was likely to belive many conspiracy theories....
...Or at least give the more batshit nutty of them some amount of credence, even if it was just to chuckle over the absurdity. But because of some of the more loonier posters on this board, and some of the DUMBEST CT speculating I've ever encountered (Bush caused the Tsunmai, anyone? How about a side dish of Chemtrails?) I've become supremely cynical about fringe theorizing, preferring rather to dwell in reality, even if it is harsher than fantasy.

2. It's opened my mind about Gay issues...
I can't say that I was homophobic before DU, but it has definitely done alot to make me think. Sometimes, it's easy to ignore issues that don't affect me directly, but DU lets me see how issues can affect REAL people, not just the MSM's idea of "the public".

8. Thanks...
I like it here.. I heard one too many outrageous claims made by the right and decided to look up the truth for myself.. I figured out quickly that they were lying about everything.. I found this place after the 2004 election.. The rest is history.. In my defense though I grew up in a super conservative household and everyone I knew was a conservative.. I didn't have a chance to think for myself until I was out on my own..

7. 9/11
I always thought there were some fishy things going on. But now I am convinced it was a LIHOP. And I think it could have been prevented.

11. Oh yes
Before I joined DU, I used to hate people who can't be bothered to start sentences with "I'm".

Now I really hate them, and think they're fucking morans.

And I know what "moran" means.

Other than that, besides laughing at DUers who think they've managed to change the world, no, not really.

13. I've seen a few things...
And I've learned a major life lesson: stay out of political arguments if you want to have a good day.

15. Also 9/11
I never knew there were so many questions. I now think that at least part of our government knew of an attack, but the scale of which surprised them.

And Afghanistan. I thought a military invasion was the right thing at the time, but now, I think targeted strikes would have been more useful.

I respect Democratic gun owners more, even if I don't always agree with them.

I changed on the death penalty on my own. I was never real pro-death penalty, but I've become completely against. I also started getting even more fiscally liberal on my own.

18. My position on guns is more nuanced than it was
my position on religion is less nuanced than it was and I'm much more skeptical toward some things, notably conspiracy theories and alternative medicine (I'm pretty skeptical of a lot of conventional medicine, too.)

19. My position on 9/11 changed
I originally believed it was a terrorist attack plain and simple. I'm now somewhere between LIHOP and MIHOP, though closer to MIHOP.

20. I always thought I was without a racist bone in my body.
I spent time at the African-American board and grew as a person.
