I just got back for the UWSP Black Student Union's Soul Food Dinner!
Great presentations, the local Postmaster unveiled the new Hattie McDonaled stamp, a kickass performance by a Milwaukee area poetry performance group called Power of Word, and the food... Oh, God, the food. Fried Catfish, the best Fried Chicken I have ever had, Spicy Jambalaya, a really delicious stuffing, REAL Mac and Cheese (not the stuff from the box) Collard Greens, some of the best yams that I have ever had (I need the recipie so that my mom can make them at thanksgiving, and I had sweet potato pie for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

A splendid time was had by me tonight.

2. My son's school is doing the same thing next week
Ribs, catfish, chicken with dressing, mac & cheese, greens, red beans & rice, peace cobbler, blackberry cobbler, and cake. I am SO THERE.
