2. Morning Clint...
I work for a bank and it's closed today, but staff has to come in for training all day. x(
The weekend just wasn't what I'd hoped for, but ya don't always get what ya want. We did go and see 8 degrees and is was a really good movie, especially if you are a dog over. :)

Do you get a day-off for Presidents' Day?

I'm on Cing Meditations sur l'Apocalypse by Jean Langlais - I want to have the final movement as the organ voluntary after my funeral. :bounce:

19. The notion of 5:30 being late really doesn't get into my little brain.
But glad to hear that you're well - even if you are working (obviously it's a normal day over here).

Did you get up to anything stunningly wonderful yesterday?

My eyes haven't changed at all in the past two years (which I could probably have guessed), but the optician and I realised that we used to work together - this was for a different opticians business, in a different town, back when I was at school and during a couple of university vacations.

26. It IS late to me.
I'm supposed to be up at 5 every morning. Not this 5:30 nonsense! x( I didnt' do anything especially wonderful yesterday, unless you consider going to the laundromat "Stunningly wonderful". It was a rainy and chilly day here in Florida. Glad to hear your prescription hasn't changed in the past couple of days. Mine stayed the same this year from last too, so I was glad to hear THAT.

29. I'm just deciding whether to get new glasses or not.
It would simply be an exercise in vanity......but some of us can get horrifically vain.

My only concern was if one of my contacts changed - at the moment they're the same for both eyes, I don't think that I could quite manage to figure out which one goes in which eye first thing in the morning if they were different.

37. LOL!
The boxes come labelled L and R so it's easy to tell! Either that or your optician will label them that way for you. So what you do is open one at a time. Open the left one, put it in, then open the right one.

It sounds easy - but left and right when I'm just out of the shower
well it's about as easy as dealing with simultaneous quadratic equations without the aid of a calculator. I can get through my normal routine, styling hair, moisturing face &c. but having to think about which eye is which would be a step too far.

I'd probably end up bringing the lenses into work and putting them in once I'd had some coffee.

60. I'm not quite on the planet for a few hours after waking.
My eyes have always been roughly the same - but then the astigmatism on one side got quite a bit worse, so I'm definitely glad that things match up nicely now.

We're not all early birds like you you know.

But you see, it's all in how you set up your sleeping habits. When I was in junior high, I had to be to my first class at 7:30am, so I had to get up WAY early then. And I have ever since.

But it just doesn't work with me, given the slightest opportunity I switch right back - I'm deeply programmed to be an owl rather than a lark.

So you had your first lesson at 7:30 at school? YIKES. :scared:

We had to be for registration at quarter to nine, then assembly ten to nine till ten past, only then would the first lesson start.

15. Hi Buffy
Speaking of diarrhea...I was called by my daughter at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning asking for me to come and help her with her two sick children(2 yrs and 4 mos.). Both had a nasty stomach virus and were vomiting profusely. She hadn't had any sleep, so I drug myself outside to a 4 degree temp. and was the good grandmother and mom to the rescue. Her hubby works every other weekend and has to stay out of town, so she really needed the help. Now I'll probably come down with it... :(

...and did the doctor say it was TMJ, or something else? If you haven't received a satisfactory answer, have you considered getting a second opinion? Seems like you should be able to get a definitive answer on this, and what you - or they - could be doing to relieve it...

since there are so many muscles in play. I have my next app. in May but of course I can show up before if it gets worse again. I will see how it develops the next couple of days and if it isn't getting better will show up at his office again.
If it is TMJ I don't know since I don't know the German term for it.

I'm rethinking this sick thing. My new plan . . . maybe I'll just go in for a while to get the stuff done that absolutely has to get done, and just leave early. That way it'll give me the option of calling in sick for the whole day tomorrow. Devious plan I know
Ah . . . guess I'll see how I feel later on in the morning.

I did get to go x-country skiing this weekend. It was fun. Just beautiful gliding through the woods. Sun was out which was an added bonus. Winter's can get pretty boring here in Wisconsin when we don't have any snow. Not a lot to do outdoors then, so I always take advantage of the snow when we have it!

Sounds like most folks had a ho-hum weekend. Mine was great.

Listened to some great jazz Friday night. BD party Saturday night. Played some And ski, ski, ski

Needless to say, I'm really tired and was seriously thinking about calling in sick, but maybe I'll save that for another day.

I would think with it being President's day, your store is going to be quite busy. Hopefully everyone will be in a good mood.

She has a small growth on her face. I'm hoping that it's nothing but I fear we may be in for surgery to remove it. I've taken so many precautions with her food, never anything carcinogenic. But you know how it is when someone you love is sick - you pray that it's nothing serious but the fear is always there.

I have to keep her confined to quarters today. The vet wants 24 hours of stool samples. I'm sure there will be blood work. She's going to be one unhappy parrot for a few days. She'll probably be pissed-off as all hell at me (like why did I let someone hurt her). I hope this trip out won't traumatize her. I love taking her on car trips with me, I don't want her to become frightened when I take her out.

128. You're here! You're here!
:bounce: :loveya: GREAT to see you!

I was just reading through the thread ... and saw that you had a rainy day yesterday. It was GORGEOUS here again. Hey, I know someone who's selling a house if you think you want to move here.

I had a nightmare just before I woke up. harleydad gave the motorcycle away to Salvation Army. He regretted it by the time he got home, so he went back to try to get it back. But they wouln't let him have it. He was BUMMED! Boy, was I glad to wake up from that one! I told him about it and he's glad it was only a dream, too ... he said it WAS a nightmare! :scared:

We spent the day yesterday taking family pictures off the walls and patching up the nail holes. Trying to take the "personal" stuff down, like they say to do. I must admit, we had a lot of pictures! But I left one tiny pic of our grandson in the curio cabinet.
:loveya:

but unfortunately, Greekspeak won't be finished with his doctorate for a few years, so we're here until then.

Nightmares suck. I don't have them often thank goodness! It's great to see you too! :loveya:

139. Aaarrggghh! Another nightmare!
OK, so it's not as bad ... Sashka is going around puking her breakfast all over the place. Why doesn't she get the hair ball out BEFORE she loads all that food on top of it? And why does it look like her breakfast doubled when it came out? Inquiring minds want to know!

BTW, you missed Satchmo's birthday thread. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=4768519&mesg_id=4768519
He turned 8 years old on Friday! Scary. And he's almost the baby (Sashka's the youngest). Where does the time go? (Did you take it?)

I'd love to save the house for you, but we need to sell it THIS year, hopefully soon. I ordered a St. Joseph figurine to bury in the yard. Have you heard of that tradition?

:puke: It's so freakin gross! x( Satchmo looks SO cute all curled up there! And I gotta admit...I've never heard of the St. Joseph figurine thing. Is it for good luck or something?

149. St. Joseph is the patron saint of Home, Family, and Workers.
If you bury a figurine of him, face down with his feet towards heaven, he will help sell the house. There's a specific direction he has to face, but I don't have the instructions yet. Anyway, once you sell the house, you dig him up and put him in a place of honor in the new home.

I discovered it one day last week when I was discouraged about the house not selling. I was looking for things like, "pick up the underwear off the floor" and "wash the dishes" ... stuff we already knew. But I thought there MUST be another secret. So I stumbled upon the St. Joseph tradition. When my realtor called, I asked if he'd heard of it. Yep. So, why didn't he tell me about it? Because the market has been so hot that they didn't need St. Joseph for a long time. But he says it works and even his Jewish clients do it.

172. Not IF it works ... WHEN.
:bounce: All houses sell sooner or later. I'm starting to feel like I'm behind the 8-ball with house-selling, though. My parents sold theirs in two weeks 12 years ago (and Mom is telling me to "be patient"). My sister sold hers in 1 week two years ago. My daughter sold hers in 25 hours last year. But we always wait until the market slows down before we sell. Of course, there are other factors, too -- it's not like we PLAN on selling in a slow market. OK, fine, I'll be patient.

Well, it's time I got my rear in gear and got this day started. Usual stuff -- scoop the kitty box, etc., and do some laundry.

I'm glad I caught you today. I hope you have a mahvelous day! :hi:

haha. I do pretty well with my own business. The roads are icey here and I don't want my boy to have to drive me so I called to have a car pick me up and take me to the airport. I have a card on file with them just in case I need them for things like this or if friends should come into town and neither of us are available to pick them up.

I'll have my laptop with me so you won't go without me :)

She took the red eye in from CA...Kids are off school, one report to do today...and calling on the washing machine to get it repaired. 1 and a half year old $1000 machine and this is our second break down. I am not pleased.

Happy Monday! :hi:

171. Good Monday and quoting George...
"I am mindful of the difference between the executive branch and the legislative branch. I assured all four of these leaders that I know the difference, and that difference is they pass the laws and I execute them" Washington D.C. December 18, 2000. Happy President's Day...sad, sad that we don't have one. ( Quote from Bushism's calendar 2006..love it.)

174. Mornin' All!
Just passing through today... mine host wants the 'puter in about a half hour...

Glad to see everyone here, KW, SG, Buffy, MissHoneychurch, sweet Joanie, SugarSmack... glad to see you've all survived another weekend! okay, I admit it: I love the lovelies! I'm a recovering gynophile and there is no one more desirable, more beautiful, than a woman of progressive mind, compassionate heart, and aggressive will to make the world fit to live in...
:yourock:

And yes, the same is certainly true of men, but I confess to a bias toward women! So Clint, glad to see you here this morning!

And all the rest of you unbelievable people at DU who have restored my spirit, my faith, and my will to overcome... I thank all the Gods Who involve Themselves in human affairs for the whole screaming lot of you!

And most of all, the fabulous AlienGirl who brought me in! :loveya:
