How do you enjoy your scrapple?
I fry mine, and pile it on top of fried hash browns, then cover it with fried eggs, and douse the whole pile in tobasco sauce. With a half a grapefruit for the health thing and all.

4. Hrmph.
I managed to dig some up in the Food Lion in Carrboro, NC. Wonder if it's gonna be like Oscar Meyer sanitized scrapple or something. It's just not scrapple unless there's something mysteriously crun-chewy in every other bite.

23. Good ol' pinhead oatmeal.
Just curious -- how long were you in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky? I've never seen goetta anywhere outside SW Ohio/SE Indiana/N Kentucky. Both my husbands have been from German families and loved the stuff (I can take or leave it).

14. This.... is Scrapple
First, a few more words for the uninitiated... Scrapple is a processed meat product composed of cuts and pieces of meat which -- for one reason or another -- will not make meals in themselves. The bulk of these come to us courtesy of the face, head, and chest cavity of the common hog.

25. Ever heard of something called "ponhaus?"
I understand it's a delicacy made up of cuts of meat not deemed good enough to go into scrapple.

26. I like my scrapple
mashed up and served with ketchup, but if pancakes or waffles are being served too, I like to let it mix with the sweet maple syrup....I really love scrapple.
