How many channels do you get on your basic cable package???

I get 54 channels, and it usually doesn't matter, because I'm not missing anything that I know might like to watch. The only reason I would get DirecTV or some other satellite would be for watching all of the college football games on saturday (if my job wasn't a conflict), and all the NFL games on Sunday.

Also, with less TV channels at my dorm, it's less of a distraction for studying. There's 75 channels on basic at my parent's house, and most of the extra channels there are filler channels, except for ESPN Classic. I REALLY wish I had Classic Sports on my TV.

Putting all that aside, how many basic channels do you get??? It varies greatly by region, you know.

My family doesn't even have cable...

And all my old friends had better cable (premium/digital) than I did.

We were considering having digital cable (sattelite TV in cable form) on two of the sets: the living room and my parent's room. But other situations came up, and we had to spend money on other things. My family's not rich, or anything. FAR from it. It's just that we recieved a kick-ass contract from the cable people in 1992 when we moved there.

Network, Fox, a few shopping channels, Hallmark, MTV, TVLand, Bravo and a few other miscellaneous stations I never watch...

But, it is enough, I think...Rarely, I miss being able to watch political commentary, but I tend to hear about it all here.
