ps - I don't think old sn's can be found, unless maybe from DU1 archives.

It seems to me that yur sn is kept in like a database, as is your avatar. When you change either, the change is stored in the db, so if you subsequently pull up an old post, it inserts the current sn/avatar into that post - I think the message box is stored in a different db, and pulling up a post *links* the pieces together for viewing.

( I could be wrong though )

I tend to regard them as being destructive to intelligent discourse, as they promote intellectual and linguistic laziness and sloppiness. I may use one or two from time to time in the sake of brevity, but for the most part I take the extra second or two to type things out rather than resorting to chat-room shorthand.
