"When the truth comes out, it's going to be ugly"
This, spoken by my mother, about the Iraq war. (It was her birthday today, and I'd called her for completely apolitical reasons.)

My mother has been a perplexing case; she bought into the Clinton-hatred at some point (prolly about the time of the impeachment scandal), and has made (the usual) excuses for Chimpy throughout his tenure. (She did, however, admit to me earlier this year that "He's pushing too hard for war," but prefaced that by saying, "I don't want to tell you this," because she knew I can't stand Dubya and it's something of a source of conention.) Speaking to her tonight, she brought up on her own the notion of an impending draft (likely has to do with the fact that she has a 22-year-old son/I have a 22-year-old brother who recently bowed out of college) and she uttered the above sentiment in the subject line.

To make a long story short, there may be an imending shift in the popular consensus (if the world revolves around my mother's opinion, and often in my case it does).

1. You're not alone
I've been suprised plenty of times over the past few weeks by the comments coming from people that I wouldn't expect this type of criticism, I think the "Hundreth Monkey" theory is being evoked (if there is such a thing). 100th monkey concept to drive out the Chimp (kinda ironic, eh?)

2. It was a weird night of revelations
I also talked to my brother, who is visitng the 'rents for the holidays. He relayed to me that he was reading the Sunday comics, and my father (who is something of an uber-freeper) went out of his way to point out The Boondocks and tell my brother, "I really like this one; I read this every day." Boy, that feather really hurt when it knocked me over.

4. Hope that's a good sign...
... and not an indication your father thinks of the strip as a modern-day version of "Amos `n Andy." (!)

5. My vote leans toward it too
But I do not totally know the full story behind it. The only thing that gives me a little doubt is then why do we need to teach people how to drive or ride a bike? There is certainly more than 100 people that know how to do these things, or maybe it only involves concepts and beliefs, and not just mechanical skills

6. My freeper step-mother-in-law told me today...

that none of the Bush* administration have any morals. I just about died! First my father-in-law said he would vote for Dean, now this! I think it was the medicare thing that pushed them over the edge, it is hard to fuck over old people and still be forgiven. About freaking time! There is not much that * can do about it either. I think people are finally tired of trying to make excuses for him. You have to understand that they are pretty right-wing, maybe not extreme right-wing, but they get the majority of their news from Faux. I personally take credit for some of this, I have been working on them since the 2000 election. It was hard but now they are being to see the light. Chimpy's days are numbered!

8. That 250 mil could backfire, too...
You know, I think the idea that Americans are catching on to is that he's been lying to people all along....he's all image....now, if people start seeing tons of pro-Bush commercials, maybe it'll just reinforce that idea.

9. $250 million is the goal, not the reality
Last I read it was $150 million.

11. here's a good one

This woman I know whose son is in the navy buys into all the bullshit propaganda and I get email from her every now and then. Well she forwarded to me the phoney email about the woman sitting in the cafeteria listening to the girls talk about how stupid bush is etc. and she finally says some bullshit to them about protecting our freedom. I think most of you have seen this phoney email.

Well, anyway, she had sent that email to her son and he replied back to her that there is a big difference between supporting the troops and supporting bush and to not cheapen his service in the military by equating the two. This was from her own son, so it was great. I think she is starting to "get it" now.

12. Here's a link to the bill that was introduced at the BEGINNING of 2003.
http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c108:S.89:
And they say there's no draft pending. I'm scared because I'm only 24, and if you're under 26, it could be required. I really don't think I'd fit in in the military. I'm too independent and I don't like being screamed at.
