I love the portrayal of Joseph McCarthy as a drunk loudmouth who was a weak individual in reality but put up a front as a strong anti-communist. Plus it was the first movie I've seen with Sinatra where his acting was actually good.

May be the best movie I have ever seen.

1. Angela Lansbury was in that movie
one of my favourite actresses.

I thought the movie was kind of freaky, but amazing at the same time.

2. I loved it
The fascist mother reminded me so much of ANN the man COULTER.
Also you should check out DR. Strangelove it is so Bush like and funny. I just rented 7 days in May, when a U.S. general stages a coup on the white house.

3. Awesome movie.
I holds up really well. Angela Lansbury was Lawrence Harvey's mother, the witch, and she and he were the same age.

4. I agree with you all around.
"The Manchurian Candidate" is one of the best films ever made. You're right about Sinatra's acting...he was very good in this (I particularly liked the scene when Sinatra and Janet Leigh's character meets on the train. Wonderfully strange dialogue). A scary film of paranoia and power. Still rings true today. And, for those people who only know of Angela Lansbury from "Murder, She Wrote", her performance in "Candidate" is nothing short of eye opening.

BTW. There's a remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" to come out. I don't know exactly why this is to be. Why tamper with classics?

6. I like the scene where the evil communists give the POWs
cigarettes made from yak dung as "a little joke." Uh, dude, jokes on you because you're smelling the yak dung smoke!

It's a great movie, but the one part that bugs me is why does the little senator's daughter happen to wear the card costume? Did Angela tell her to?

And I love the part where the Democratic senator tells Angela he will fight her to the end. We need that guy now.

7. That's an awesome movie.
Very faithful to the book by Richard Condon.
