Horror fans: We just lost out on a Clive Barker/John Carpenter film

Celluloid Shockers talked with Doug Bradley about what was going on with the Michael Vs Pinhead movie that was in development and it seems two horror masters were involved after all:

"Doug mentioned that the project is 'CURRENTLY' stalled, but what he went on to say nearly had me in tears afterwards. Here's a neat little exclusive for you as to how involved Clive Barker and John Carpenter were on the project: Clive Barker and John Carpenter were good to go.

Clive had the agreement papers, was ready to put pen to paper and then got a call from Bob Weinstein (Which is rare) and told Clive that they no longer wanted to do it. Now if you can imagine the two egos of Weinstein and Barker clashing with fury... you can get the idea of how that conversation ended.

Barker & Carpenter are known for cutting-edge originality, not some lame Freddy vs. Jason rehash.

But if both Carpenter and Barker were good-to-go on this, then I'd think they had an idea from which to approach doing it. It's not like some no-name hack trying to cash in on another's work.

Heck, some of the best classic horror films were built around the simple plot of "Lets throw some popular monsters together and make a movie!" (think the Universal horror films.)
