6. I just played one.
At the Sutler in Nashville, last week. I'm going to play there agin on Friday night.

Before that, though, it was The Lucky Guns at the End, a week or two ago. There's nobody who could fill an arena I'd be interested in seeing. Club shows are a lot better acoustically, and the bands are a lot better.

Yep, it's the city I'm callin' home for now. Come see my band, The 8th Grade, at the Sutler this friday, 7Blades! Four bands, five bucks, it'll be a hoot. One of the opening bands is Chatanooga's on Up With The Joneses, the finest monster-afro metal band in the south- they put on a killer show....Don't miss it!

15. Project/Object
Project/Object is a Frank Zappa cover band. They are a fine young group of musicians who are dedicated to keeping Franks Music alive.

They are so good, that they are attracting ex-Zappa/Mother of Invention members to either joining their band or their tour. I saw them a month ago, and they had Ike "The Thing Fish" Willis, Napolean Murphy Brock (mid-70's), and Don Preston (from the original Mothers).

BTW - they basically play nothing but small jazz bars. If you like any of Zappa's music, you will definitely like this band. Check them out, as they tour constantly.

Cheers
Drifter

I guess I'm like you - U2, Pop Mart tour in Seattle. December 1997, I think. Wow - I haven't seen an arena show in forever! :P

I see live music at least 2-3 times a month; just in small clubs and/or bars.

or smaller arena show? or club act? Actually, I just saw Robert Randolph three weeks ago in Iowa City, Iowa. Before that, B.B. King at a local theater. Last big arena show(and real hard rock show) was Ronnie James Dio, the alleged Deep Purple(they sucked), and the Scorpions at our local arena. The acoustics are much better at the theater, where I'm going to see Jonny Lang and Indigineous tonight.

You have to be really stoned to do that dance. I'm very good at it :).

I don't remember '99 being a double set. I was thinking they started that a few years later, but that was many jazz fests ago.

Do you make it to the fest often? I'm a serious fest head. Last year was my 16th jazz fest.

Do you make it to the fest often?

We used to go every year, but we don't make it that often anymore. I reeeaaaalllly wanted to go this year to see Dylan and Panic and Anders Osborne but we couldn't get away. Jazz Fest is my favorite thing to do in New Orleans though. We avoid Mardi Gras like the plague (we stay home and watch it on TV), but the Fest is always fun.

98. We saw Anders with Monk Boudreaux last year.
He was great as usual. I remember the first time I heard Anders, it was about four in the morning at Rock n' Bowl and I was wiped out. Anders started playing and I ended up staying at the show until the sun rose. He is one of my favorite unheard of musicians. I'm psyched to meet someone else who has heard him.

I agree about Mardi Gras. I tended bar at Fat Harry's on St. Charles for five years and had all the Mardi Gras one person needs during that time. We never go back for Mardi Gras, but we go to jazz fest every year.

Where do you live? I grew up in LA. I went to high school in Shreveport, college in New Orleans and law school in Baton Rouge.

one of my first reactions to 9.11 was "the tour! im glad i saw them on sunday."

theyve probably got another album soon i would think. unless they want to continue with the cecieda lifespan album release pattern.

Maynard Keenan wanted to do promote A Perfect Circle, his other band. So, no new album until 2005 or 2006 at the latest :(

64. LOL, do I ever have an interesting Godsmack story.
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 05:09 PM by GumboYaYa
I was working on a promotion for the release of the Mission Impossible II Soundtrack and had Godsmack scheduled to play at the House of Blues in New Orleans on the day of the album release. The lead singer had a few too many drugs (I'm not sure which drugs) and had to be carried out of the house before the show started. We had to cancel the show and I got to spend the next two months fixing all the problems caused by little Mr. Smack head.
