Are there any Woodstock attendees on this board

besides me?

500,000 people there, and within minutes I ran into a kid who lived one street over from me. The conversation went as follows:

"Hey man, do you know what time it is?"

Uh, I don't know, man, I think I left it upstairs."

1. Sister-in-Law
My sister-in-law was on the stage most of the event. You can see her dancing in the background in the film when (I think) Santana is playing. Went on to tour with Dylan on the Rolling Thunder tour. Now, she's just a housewife in Queens.

2. Yup. Me, little brother, mom, and a VW busful of hippies. I was 7.
I got hurt and David Crosby came over to help me. He told the story on one of the 25th anniversary TV specials in '93 and I watched it and said, "The kid he's talking about was ME!"

I had to be carried to one of the first aid trailers, where some folks who were "tripping on the bad brown acid" were, and when they told me they had to give me a shot (tetanus) I freaked because I thought what they were going to give me was what those people were on. It gave me a fear of needles until I was an adult.

And I thought I was having fun watching topless women in the pond...

4. Be There, or Be Square
Hey Bear,
I was there. I remember that I was working on Martha's Vineyard that summer. I quit my job, grabbed my girlfriend Joan McLellan, and hopped the ferry for the mainland.

We hitchiked together all the way, and that proved to be a stroke of genius. We had no car to worry about. We just kept hopping from one party car to another -- all the way into the site. And then when it was over, we surfed the traffic jams the same way, hopping on to cars that were moving, and off of cars that were stopped.

The music was great. But what made the deepest impression on me was to just be part of this Vast Sea of Humanity that shared the same understanding of what was going down in the world, and what was needed.

Like you, I ran into people I know while Woodstock was going on. But then I travel a lot and I seem to run into people I know just about everywhere. Seven degress of separation, or whatever.

Peace. And don't trust anyone over 30.

5. We drove up

but got stuck 8-10 miles out. We didn't know what to do until we looked over a rise and saw a hay cart with Wavy Gravy and the Hog Farm on it. Got a free ride in, along with about 30 others.

Hell, I'm 50 and I don't even trust myself.

Go ride the music.

8. Yes, me and the guy who is now my brother in law
met there, lost touch until I married his sister 21 years later. That was weird seeing him again.
We shared a tent, he had food, I had a tent... it worked out.
