and the beers were flowing pretty plentifully by that time (especially for him) so I don't know if I recall exactly but I believe it was "what a load of pollyanna crap" :)

Keep in mind we were shouting back and forth over the din

EDIT: by "academic" I was trying to characterize this guy as the type who believes that one can effect social change by sitting around getting drunk and pontificating on what a bunch of old dead white d00ds may or may not have thought about the modern age
