8. Richard Dawkins is widely credited with the coinage of the term
"meme" in his book The Selfish Gene.

Susan Blackmore revised and extended the "meme" meme in The Meme Machine, by my lights the best ego-crusher of a book since Beyond Freedom and Dignity by B.F. Skinner.

I was just splicing the concept of the selfish gene with the concept of the meme. Clearly the splicing does not constitute a selfish meme. Nor will it, if it depends on this post.
