MORE bad Bond news: Daniel Craig can't drive a stick (Aston Martin DB5)

Reports from the much labored production of the new James Bond flick, Casino Royale, claim that star Daniel Craig has a horrible case of prickly heat he caught while getting a sunburn when he was trying to tan. This comes on the heels of Craig losing his two front teeth during a fight scene and his confession to producers that he is unable to drive a stick shift, a problem since the classic Aston Martin DB5 is Bond's car of choice. Other sources are claiming that Craig asked the film's producers to supply him with numerous beauty and pampering products such as baby lotion, nail files and wet wipes. All of these incidents have a large number of fans and industry insiders worried about the film's success.

i wish more models here were, my choices are becoming more limited when i have to buy a car.

I prefer a stick myself, but now that I have two kids I'm seeing the convenience of an automatic can be desirable... but desirable enough to give up that extra control? Not sure...

a stick has never been a problem for me, it actually keeps more focused on driving, plus i'm hoping this car will last so it will be daughters first car and i really want her learn a stick even if she ends up getting an automatic later on.

Mine are young enough that they need me to do stuff for them, and telling them 'wait a second and let mommy shift' gets old. :)

up front so every now and then i ask her to shift for me, she loves that. "Wait until i hit the clutch!!!!"

I just need more cupholders, that's what it is... right now I have to pass their drinks back and forth... annoying!

Can't wait till mine are older and can fight over who gets to sit up front. :P

total which for me is a little overkill but hey if you've got a couple of kids it works for you, plus the back seat is really large, lots of leg room.

The original "Casino Royale" was plagued with lots of problems. Granted, it veered away from the Ian Fleming novel into complete silliness.

Maybe it's time to give the whole franchise a rest for a while.

...then, of course, there's the title to that famous old song, "How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away?"

What I'd like to see the owners of the franchise do is release the INDIVIDUAL Bond titles on DVD. Last time out you could only purchase the two box sets, which were priced at around $125 each. Put out ALL the titles, charge around $15 bucks for each, and let people spend a few years with the Bond movies that WORKED. The fact that you can't buy the individual DVD of "Thunderball" is RIDICULOUS.

Some firm called Lowry Digital is remastering all the Bond films. Hopefully, they'll be released individually. Or even era specific box sets - Connery, Moore etc.

and I'm pretty far along in life. I have always driven automatics. Who the hell wants to drive in heavy traffic and have to manually shift gears?

I have an uncle and aunt in their forties who've never driven a stick shift and don't know how, and a friend of mine's sixty-something mother has never driven, period. All of my cars have had manual transmissions and I like being able to drive a stick shift, but RebelOne is right about driving a car with a manual transmission in heavy traffic: sometimes it sucks.

Therein lies the problem. Family never owned a car with manual transmission, and none of the men who were horrified that I didn't know how to drive a manual transmission ever offered me lessons using THEIR car.

I dated guys with money right after college (unfortunately, I got over that tendency) and they all drove expensive cars they barely let me touch, much less drive!

If this movie is a success, it will be in spite of the "support" he's received from the media, not because of it.

I just don't buy him as Bond, plain and simple. Connery had "cool." Moore had it, I guess, but it was a little closer to "smarmy." I felt that Moore would taunt you with witty verbal jabs and snicker at his own superiority, whereas Connery would just get impatient and toss you out a friggin' window...

Timothy Dalton...who knows? I thought the first film was boring and the second showed promise. He definitely nailed the "pissed off and moody, This-Time-It's-Personal" Bond.

Brosnan? I thought he was more of a return to the "aloof dandy" days of Moore than the Connery flicks, but his films had their moments.

Daniel Craig? I see him more as "Terrorist #5" in "Die Hard IV" than I do a leading man in the Bond role. I see him getting into one of those three minute life and death struggles with Bruce Willis before getting tossed out of an airplane or something. Then Willis has a "Yippie-Ki-Yay, Muthaf**ka" line and the next terrorist rushes in to kick his ass. THAT kind of guy. Not Bond.

But hey, that's just me. The movie's either gonna be HUGE, ot it's gonna be "Ishtar."

I mean come on... James Bond driving an automatic? Please.

Then it wouldn't matter who played Bond. Tarentino could make Phillip Seymour Hoffman (one of the greatest actors working but 100% wrong for the part) seem the coolest James Bond ever.

I know opinion is mixed on Tarentino but I just know he could make a better Bond film than has been made in the last 25 years.

I think Bond films suck... but they suck even worse the past 25 years.

Oh well, I suppose the producers are duty-bound to milk the franchise for whatever it's still worth. I think they should have just gone with another Connery movie...like, "Never Say Never Again Again" or something.

For one thing, it wouldn't matter if Craig could drive stick or not. They could easily use a body double for any "shift scenes". They do that in Hollywood all the time, which is why you can have actors who have never touched a piano look and sound like Van Cliburn. It's all in the editing.

Plus, there's been so much Craig-bashing lately. I just don't get it. I'm sorry, but there is no canonical "Bond" look. The James Bond of the movies is so far removed from the Bond of the books they could almost get Gavin MacLeod to play him.

This guy sets a new and lower wussy mark, previously held by Roger Moore. What, was Moore too busy to make a come-back? Was Eddy Izzard to tame? "I do say, if you even look at this chap" (ok bag the English accent), does the image of James Bond even come into the thought process? I hear Richard Simmons does a decent accent. Of all the pansy-assed...... Where are the days of Sean Connery? Brosnan did a more than decent job. Dalton shouldn't have gotten a screen test. Moore should have been shot for considering the role. Why can't a manly role, and let's face it you can't get any more manly than the IMAGE of James Bond, be played by a MAN, not some metro-sexual fancy pantsed pussy. I guess we all need something to do between manicurist appointments.
