Ignoring.

I promised myself when I joined D.U. that I would TRY to never put anyone on "ignore", and so far in my short time here I have not done so...

To the best of my knowledge, only two people ignored me, and now both are talking to me again (whew!).

Anywho, I wondered how many people you have on ignore RIGHT now.



Note, mods, that I am not asking people to name WHO they are ignoring, just how many...

I added about 10 people today. Bad day for arguments. Best way to prevent them in the future.

my "ignorables" have been banned (I'm a GDP fan, too).

Not going to be involved in certain discussions does the trick for me.

That's how I ended up on a couple ignore lists. People just couldn't understand that I didn't agree.

No matter how idiotic someone is, I won't ignore.

Given our minor skirmishes, I think I resemble that remark!;-)

Sometimes, you just need it... even though you don't like the fumes.

If I don't care for a certain poster, I don't read their posts. That being said, the ignore feature has prevented some pretty flamey flame wars.

I know that EstimatedProphet still suffered from it and had serious flashbacks, clicking on every thread to read through. :rofl:

I usually do it until the furor over the topic causing said tirade has calmed down, then I purge the ignore list. :P

No one has irritated or offended me consistently enough to warrant the honor.

A few people have been personally abusive but I just figured that what I said managed to hit them in a soft spot and so they hit back. Nothing personal. No harm, no foul. Just the usaul disagreements that come with life. Even when they hit below the belt, that doesn't mean they have nothing to say that I couldn't learn from.


I figure a lot of people have me on ignore. For gods' sake, TJ has put me on ignore 3 times (by his count). And HT put me on ignore (although he swears he didn't). So even if my friends do it - goddess knows how many other people have!

(OK I did have one guy on ignore, briefly, but he really was an asshole and was quickly kicked out the door by the powers that be. And that was a long time ago.)

But now you've got my promise (on my honour as an Englishman) that I won't do it again - so you're safe unless I decide to turn into la perfide Albion.

you have to admit, I only deserved two of the three. The other one was when you were in a snit and were ignoring everybody. (Although at the time you said everybody but me - I still have the PM).

Oh, BTW, probably better NOT check out today's (Thursday's) earworm, to be put up later (~ 9:15)... It has been annoying me for a few days, so I thought I would pass it on ... avoid it!

to be ignored by anybody else? I do have a couple of hot subjects I can't seem to ignore when maybe I should, and often end up "conversing strongly" with the same two or three individuals - kind of amazes me that THEY don't have me on ignore.

But there have been some - including some who departed shortly after, to great relief on the part of myself and others.

I have not liked some of the comments made at times but I've noticed people generally just go off on a tangent over one or two issues so I just read over what they have to say and "mostly" keep on going without stopping. Most everyone calms down the next day anyway. :)

So, apart from the many ignored who ended up banned, I only have two people on ignore right now.

Quite a few actually. But, ya just can't please all of the people all of the time.

But I think almost half of those have been banned.

but I have one person I am determined not to respond to any more. That's almost the same thing. I wonder if there are alot of others who would like to be on that list. Clearly, everyone makes economising decisions about which threads to read and which posts (and posters) to respond to, although "my posts" has a large influence, and for a brief period there I experienced a flood of responses that was hard to keep up with.
