It's an awesome thing. It's nice to contemplate the moon and stars and think about Bush* and everyone like they are all ants - the silly little specks of life and time that we are.


That thought briefly crossed my mind earlier this evening when I was at the lecture given by Daniel Pipes - who thinks that everything is the fault of "Militant Islamists" - and that HE is the only one who thinks that WE should be at WAR with them. (He also tries to OUT liberal professors on Campuses - Campus Watch).

Looking out at the audience and thinking - yes - here we are - specks in the universe - assembled in this room in Indiana to hear this goofball speak.


It's good to keep a perspective on these things.

Now it is such a bizarrely impossible coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the nonexistence of God. The arguement goes something like this:


"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't though of that" and promply vanishes in a puff of logic.
