Every Friday and Saturday night, my Grandmother drinks
3 bourbon and waters. Stiff ones! My Grandmother is 80 years old and she still parties on the week-ends.

When we go out to dinner or go to my Mother's house, it's dry martinis, I'll join her on the martinis. She can drink 3, no problem, I drink four and I am a mess!! LOL

I'm gonna party with my 80 year old Grandmother tomorrow!!!

1. Right on
My granny, a little less ambitiously, stuck with one beer (with salt in it, ech...) and one ciggy every night until two years ago when the home made her stop. :D

FWIW, she's 98.

4. why wouldn't they let a 98 year old have a smoke?
I mean come on, are they afraid she'll get cancer? That's just silly!

8. My great-great-grannie made it to 95 before the ciggies killed her...
She was a half a pack a day smoker, and the home wouldn't let her smoke indoors... but she could and did smoke outside even in Indiana winters.

She also walked every day to the corner store to pick up something (it was her exercise). She was hit by a truck three months after her 95th birthday, while going to fetch a new deck of smokes. She broke her hip and died three days later of a blood clot related to the accident.

So we always said it was the smokes that killed her.

(She lived in what we'd probably now call assisted living, but in 1980, that term barely existed.)

My Grandparents used to sneak in a couple of shooters of wild turkey to a friend of theirs who was in a home, he was so thrilled to get it!!

3. When I was just "of age", I'm meet my Nanna at a roadhouse...
and we'd buy each other drinks. She was a HOT SHIT. An old Sicilian lady of about 95 lbs with a mouth like a sailor. She was old friends with the lady who owned the roadhouse and would go there on weekends.
I lived with her in her Florida mobile home when I was 19. She would pour ice tea glasses full of brandy and drink at least four of them without showing any signs of inebriation.
She was also the best Italian cook I have ever seen.
I miss that lady so much. Nanna passed away in 1993 at age 80.
