It sucks.

Pity threads suck even more!

1. Actually, no.
I am constantly amazed by how many people take note of when I'm gone for a while. Who are these people, anyway?

Weird.

3. Lucky you!
I could be an envious jerk, but I think I'll just be happy instead. Why be bitter? :D

4. Yeah.
I feel like people think I'm a dork and wouldn't care one way or another if I were here or not. That's not a good feeling. Especially when you care about others.

6. In life or DU?
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 12:23 AM by populistmom
In life, most definately. In DU, I doubt no more than one or two people would even notice, maybe no one would at this point.

14. Same old, same old
Mountain of shopping to do, finals coming up, and knowing I won't be posting much here for awhile in another couple of days because I will need every spare moment.

Then there's my vigil, which is a story in itself. Sigh....

How about you?

I generally think of myself in terms of a line to an old Morrissey song which goes....
"having learned my lesson, I never left an impression on anyone", but it's nice to know it's not always true.

8. You would be surprised at the people I notice are missing when they are
They'll come back and post after being gone for a while..and I'l comment that they were missing and they are pleased to know someone noticed. I really do try to pay attention to things like that.

On old DU I could read every thread that was started in a day...now the board moves so fast, I leave for a day and nearly everything I read a couple days ago in GD is archived.

At any rate, once i get to recognize a poster, I notice if they are gone for a spell.

because I am a loud mouth but its funny, outside of DU, I am really quiet and reserved, I am just another face in the crowd.

I didnt disappear, I just acted like a fool and didnt call my parents. Overall that was a great day and lemme tell a secret, I was a little under the influence when I talked to the cops, yet they didnt notice, I regret doing what I did that night, not calling my parents but did ya have to bring that up  oh I look back and grin now over it.

10. Hell, no!

And I'm not a narcissist by any stretch of the imagination.

During the low points in my life, all that kept me from attempting suicide was that I knew if I did myself in, it would devastate a lot of people who cared about me.

As for DU: when I was away from it for about three weeks in September, somebody started a thread titled "Where Is NightTrain," while another DUer PM'd me to inquire as to my whereabouts.

So in answer to your question, I'd have to say no.

12. Time to go rent the movie
"It's a Wonderful Life", Frank Capra's 1946 classic with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. To quote from the movie:

"Every man's life touches so many other lives, and when he isn't around it leaves an awful hole."

I'm serious about renting the movie. Every one feels the way you are feeling at some time or another - and it's been that way all through time. But when we feel that way we're wrong. And this movie does a great job of showing why we are so needed, even if we don't 'feel' like it sometimes. Cheer Up!

21. It depends on what you mean by "no one"
Human-wise, nope. Other than my family, no one would miss me. Maybe the management would because they'd have to fill in for my shift.

Feline-wise, definitely. Even though they're Marie's cats, they have adopted me, so I know they'd miss me.

Zhade, I hope that you don't think that no one will miss you. Someone will, no matter who they are.
