Cool!
I have a rash on my stomach that's shaped like the continent of Africa. Well, I guess it's the mirror image, since in the mirror, it looks just like Africa.

Just looking for an up-side to shingles.
Pass the Vicodin, please.

1. I used to get hives in cold weather when I was a teenager
I ran across the school commons one day in a t-shirt in 20 degree weather. I went to the school nurse and showed her the hives that covered my complete upper body up to my neck. They referred me to a dermatologist. It turns out that I had a rare disease that made me allergic to the cold. Luckily it only lasted for that winter. There are two forms of the illness. One lasts for about 6 months the other lasts for a lifetime. Fortunately I had the former.

They say hives are the result of extreme anxiety. But I was an easy going kid and I didn't have any enemies so I don't know what the deal was.

I hope you get to feeling better. I don't know anything about shingles. What kind of disease is that?

2. It's the dormant chicken pox virus.
It gets trapped in the nerve cells.. and when something stimulates reproduction of the virus, it can't get out through the bloodstream, so you get skin eruptions... just like chicken pox, only very painful, since all the nerve endings are inflammed. Fortunately, it's limited to the one main nerve, and won't spread beyond that.

It feels like I've been sleeping on a bed of nails. x(

3. What'd be really cool is if you got a rash the looked like the Virgin Mary
and people would come from miles afar to see Our Lady of RevCheesehead's Shingles.

10. I believe it!
I nearly broke down in tears when I read on "Web MD" that shingles usually last from 3-5 weeks. x(

Would someone have pity on me, and club me over the head?

a spiritual leader, even if you have the scarlet image of Africa on you tummy. :silly:

I sure wish I could offer more than prayers.

Did you try the cold compresses?

Sorry, so very sorry you are in such misery. :loveya:

I hurt when I sit up. I hurt when I lie down. I really hurt when the cats jump on me with amazing precision. And I'm damned tired of going around braless.... I keep tripping on the damned things.

Do they wiggle to and fro
Can you tie them in a knot
Can you tie them in a bow
Can you throw them over your
shoulder like a Continential soldier
Do your boobs hang low?

Take that other 1/2 a pill and put the children out of your room and rest.
Drink plenty of fluids

  :loveya:

22. I have no idea, since I've never been through this before.
I've never had a fever with this. But the outbreak has ceased, most of the lesions have healed or are healing, and they're starting to fade. But, alas, the pain remains.
