Who should play Batman for "Dark Knight Returns"?
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 05:14 PM by Benfea
Let's play make believe. Let's pretend someone started making a movie adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

Who do you think should play the title role?

I say either Tom Selleck or Viggo Mortensen.

1. Tom Jane (played The Punisher).
I think the voice is perfect, too.

2. I have the book, but I dont recall his age at the time.
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 05:24 PM by Cannikin
I know Batman was supposed to have been absent for ten years, but I dont recall his age. I'm not sure what age of actor to put in there

On edit:

I'd love to see 'The Long Halloween' made into a film. Its my favorite graphic novel so far.

4. He needs to look like he's in his 50s.
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 05:25 PM by Benfea
"Dark Knight Returns" is the one with the elderly Batman.

He needs to be tall, imposing and have a strong jaw.

10. Think about it though...
He needs to play a drunk....we know he can do that...he's got the right age (he's 55), and he's sort of big and husky, not some prissy thing....

Plus even Michael Keaton got to play Batman after playing Mr. Mom

11. Uhm, I can't buy that.
Whoever plays this Batman needs to have a certain presence. It needs to be someone that can ooze intimidation from every pore, and… uh… I just can't see Quaid doing that.

16. Surely, you jest?
He does get dismembered/disfigured/dies horribly in almost every film he's in. Besides, he voiced the Frank Miller Dark Knight Batman to perfection in the "Legends of the Dark Knight" episode of Batman the Animated series. :D

Actually, as I said below about Clooney, Campbell will probably be about the right age by the time the movie is made.

32. Do NOT mention that name in conjunction with Batman ever again!
I like Clooney. I like his politics, and more importantly I admire his bravery at a time when everyone else is afraid to say anything that disagrees with the pronouncements of FOX News. However, if you speak that man's name during the course of any discussion about Batman ever again, I will duct tape you a chair and force you to watch Menudo videos until you kill yourself just to end the pain.

40. The movie & director sucked
But, I honestly think that Clooney has the necessary intensity & charisma to play *that* character if the script is right and if the director is good.

He's got that old guy/badass thing going on, but with the sort of charm needed to play a aging Bruce Wayne.
