(LOL) American Idol last night- a mynx is not calamari or SALmon

Okay nonfans stick with me on this-it will justify everything negative that you have to say about this particular TV offering.

in the intro to her singing "I'm the Only One." they showed a clip of her with her dog-Comet. She said he isn't very smart cut to footage of her throwing a stick and the dog just sitting there and looking at her.

Then she sings.

Then the judges give their impression of what they thought even though phone and text voting decides who gets cut.

Simon says that she is a "naughty little mynx" Kellie out loud says "what is a mynx?" Fellow braintrust Ryan Seacrest is not really sure how to explain what a mynx is. In the middle of him trying to explain it and some voices from off screen our dear Kellie looks like she just got a clue and says, outloud, "It's like a calamari!!!" This passes without comment.

I am DYING LAUGHING at this point :rofl:

After giving the number to call to vote for Kellie Seacrest asks her if she had anything different to eat this week. She isn't getting what he is going after (actually has a finger rubbing in her ear) so he mentions seafood she says "Oh yeah SALmon"

just like that SAL...mon

I wonder if she really is that sheltered and dumb, or if it's an act put on to win votes. Heck if it can work for the President...

I mean I've made jokes before about Elliot Yamin looking like he just stepped out of a trailer park, but I think Kellie Pickler still has one foot in the trailer.

She's never heard 'saucy mynx" before, and she can't pronnounce Salmon correctly but someone, apparently also dumb as a post, told her off camera it was like a Calamari??? And then she said "OH! It's like a Calamari?!"...

If she's never had Salmon before, and isn't familiar with the term "saucy mynx", I just find it surprising she knows what a Calamari is....then again maybe she doesn't and she's just parroting...

Someone should also tell her to redo her dye job, the roots are showing.

But didn't really like it. So, it was a joke about that.

btw -- I just asked two redneck colleagues if they knew was a minx was, and they both thought I meant minks.

I missed that last week as well.

I think they need to show more of Kellie and Katharine wrestling in bed. It was fun to see two strangers make friends so easily. I think it is something from which we all can learn.

One is some redneck girl from one of the most redneckiest part of NC, basically parentless, etc..... whereas Katharine is a New England girl, definitely middle class, pretty sophisticated, etc. I think it's endearing and sweet they are buddies. Two different worlds.

I loved how they both squealed together..., it's so typically girly. Plus, it was uncomfortably.... hot.

I'm not claiming that this is evidence that makes anything ok to say. I'm just saying that I'm not alone in the use of trailer park stereotypes, but I did it in a joking manner, and even prefaced it with saying that it was a joke. If we can't take a joke anymore than we're in deep shit, imho.

For all the doubters who think Kellie Pickler is a poseur, let me tell you this: I dated a girl from Pickler's neck of NC... and she is the real deal.

I guess I scanned past that on the DVR last week...I hope Kellie doesn't win though. She's definately one of my least favorites of the final 6...or who will be imho...

Not necessarily the singer, but personality, sincerity, etc. Ayla really annoys me for some reason... I think because I don't think she's taking any real joy from this...

Simon didn't need to dis Carrie Underwood, though. I like Carrie.
And Cowell is shooting himself in the foot, isn't he, by criticizing Underwood when HE owns the recording rights for all AI contestants?
