The most unexpected thing happened to me today!
I got my life handed back to me!

The trial I thought I'd be spending the next month on is still going on...

WITHOUT ME!

I got dismissed today! NEVER have I been so happy to be given the boot!

Help me celebrate!

3. Jury duty bites.
And it's an insult not to be cut from the jury pool. Attorneys want easily persuaded sheep on the jury. They don't think much of you if they keep you.

Congratulations. :bounce:

8. Well, you know, I do enjoy doing it.......
I see the necessity for it......

However, this month-long trial was just too much for me!

And I agree about which sort of people stay......it's a shame, IMHO....

:bounce: Thanks!

14. I certainly appreciate those who do their civic duty ...
... in whatever capacity they serve. But, speaking from experience, I know that lawyers want people who can be easily persuaded, one way or the other, i.e. people who are not creative, contemplative thinkers.

It is really best that someone like you, my dear California Peggy, is not required to serve. You might better serve the interests of justice, but the attorney out there waiting for you to render a verdict is charging big bucks for the time (and all parties are paying attorney's fees). Attorneys want quick decisions out of juries. Thoughtful people often make for long jury deliberations.

:)

22. My dear Floog!
It's not the first time I've been rejected..... J/K!

This was a civil case.....and it was the plaintiff's side that struck me...

I guess since the plaintiff was a fired former deputy chief of police, and I have a son-in-law who is a police officer.....

That was enough to do the trick!

25. I'm not so sure.
If your son-in-law is a police officer, the plaintiff might have good reason to believe that you are sympathetic to the plaintiff's position.

Was the defendant a governmental entity? :)

I am so sorry, sweetie!

I just had a feeling that I would be called after they announced that the court was looking for a group for a month-long trial......

Since I'm retired....no time restrictions for me....

It's a trial involving the city of Southgate...a corruption trial.

The former deputy chief of police has brought suit against the city in which he alleges that they wrongfully terminated him.....

I will be following this one in the papers, I can tell you!

I am CERTAIN it will take longer than the month they were telling us.....
