New Trend?

I have been all over a 3 state area over the last 2-3 weeks (OK,TX,KS)and have talked to a lot of people I know. A lot of them are die hard Repubs, not surprising in this part of the country. when talking about the election next November,I have gotten this same response out of a surprising number of them, probably close to 20 people have said:(to paraphrase)

"F*** Bu$h! I am not voting for the SOB has told to many lies,he has lied and let us all down etc, etc.

So I ask them "are you voting Dem then? 3rd party possibly?"

"No,not 3rd party and I damn sure am not voting for a F&*#g Democrat. I m just not going to vote for President at all until the Repub party decides to run someone I can vote for.

Naturally, each conversation took it's own unique path, but in each one of these people, the same sentiments and resolve is unmistakeable.
I have known most of these people for years, some of them are pretty close friends.

I know the news would be better if they said they were going Dem,but a vote not cast for $hrub is half as good.

Has anybody else out there been running into this? Just curious.

1. True enough. If fewer Republicans go to the polls and Democrats
register more voters, it's a good thing in the greater scheme of things.

I don't notice this so much, but then I live in a predominantly liberal area of a predominantly liberal city.

2. I love those people!
Better no vote, if they feel they can't take pride in any candidate. Besides, with they not voting only helps we... :D

3. It is encouraging

These folks aren't knuckle dragging freeper types, they are just core Repub "old school" conservatives and moderate types.

Is $hrub coming unglued in the heartland? We can only hope.

4. I ran into another one today...
he runs a motor boat repair shop on Lake Lanier. The last time he voted for a Democrat was when Jimmy Carter ran in 1976. He didn't even vote in 1980, and in 1984 he went into business for himself...and has voted Republican ever since. That is until recently!

Now he is mad as hell. His business isn't making enough money for him to break even, and now that his wife has cancer..his health insurance company just dropped them! He used to complain about high taxes and wasteful government spending, but now he is angry about the government wasting time in Iraq when it has no national healthcare here at home. And he is pissed that his kid doesn't even have public school textbooks to take home, and she has to spend money just to make copies of a textbook at school..or flunk!

I asked him how he liked shrub's taxcuts..his response, "What Taxcuts?"

And he wasn't joking, many people are still clueless that there were taxcuts passed. Sounds like a campaign issue to me..."shrub is raising taxes on our children, but where are the taxcuts he promised us?"

5. Not new. Just new on their side.
We have had that problem for a looong time. At least back to 68, maybe even before that.
The big problem is, since those people are going to vote R anyway, if they get into the booth for a local or state election, they will pull the lever for * anyway, no matter what they say.
And, let's face it, the GOP is better at the "get out the vote" thing than we are, for the most part.

We are too busy destroying ourselves in primaries with fringe causes and getting people pissed off at each other.

6. Yep - been a trend for a while
What amazes me is, with all the people I hear of an know of who are dropping out of the Shrub supporting camp like crazy, why are the polls still showing that idiot at the top?

Well, I know why - because the polls are bullshit, made up, or otherwise not real. That's why.

Whatever support the polls say this loser has, it's less.

7. the polls..
...Don't always tell the whole story for sure. I know that the 20 or so people I talked to at the auctions, swap meets and estate sales I go to hardly represents a big enough group to draw any conclusions. I was just taken aback by their attitudes about Bu$h.

The great unknown here in Oklahoma is the conservative Dems. I know a lot of them that vote Dem in Congressional and State/local races, but will vote for the Repug. Presidential candidate. If a lot of them feel the same way about Asshat as the Repugs I talked to,things could get interesting down here.
