A dog and his boy.
On a country road a little bit ago I came upon a stopped school bus in front of a home. The school bus lights were yellow so I did not have to stop yet but I did anyway.

I stopped to watch the big reddish brown dog that was jumping up and down at the school bus door anxious to greet his kids. Old dog is jumping up and down barking tail a wagging.

Soon one boy gets off the bus. The dog greets him then turns his attention to me. Barking mean like he runs up to my car sticks his head through the open window,OH OOH. Might be I am in trouble.

I tell the dog; "Shut up! Go take care your boy." Old Dog he stop the barking looks at me funny as if to say; "Okay." He turns and away he goes to herd his boy into the house.

Boy I wish I could have a dog to greet me when I come home.

4. Oneighty.

I am sitting here in my favorite coffee shop, nursing my second cup of house blend (a free refill) with a second helping of my favorite biscotti, having just spent an enjoyable hour with a great friend, and now I have come across this written gem from my favorite writer.

Oh what a good day.

Thank you.

Your copy of 'KAZUKO' was mailed first class this afternoon--before the dog story happened.

Dogs are angels, I swear it. My sweet boy Buddy died not quite a year ago. I love him and I miss him so. I still think I see him out of the corner of my eye sometimes. But it's always just a shadow or some such.

=sigh=

Oh how I wanted me some a them there Sea Monkeys as advertised in the comic books.

No not me I went into two failed businesses-house to house salve and house to house seeds. (I still owe those companies) Man one could not give that stuff away.

Now the Sea Monkeys, hmmmm might still be worth a try.

8. My raising was partially done by a red Chow named Rusty...
He guarded us kids faithfully whenever we were in the yard and provided food for us. He left a cottontail rabbit on the porch each day. He was a superb role model for us. I did my own children a favor and raised them with Chows.

12. Hey BikeWriter
Our last three full time dogs were German Shepherds. One was bad. He lost when he tried to bring down an offending semi-truck out there on route seventeen. Even so at sunrise the following morning it took me three bloody marys to get 'Doctor Pushkin' safely into the ground.

Sigh.

a Great Dane that worked registered Beefmaster stock perfectly. The exe's previous Saint Bernard bitch recognized one day she couldn't turn the cow bearing down on the ex and a calf without harming her so she broke the cow's foreleg. Big cow dogs are tough on cows but save some cowboys and cowgirls a lot of broken bones.

17. Yes.
Thanks for the spelling and the picture. Even the Mona Lisa girl likes them. That is good.

I saw the Mona Lisa in DC in the early 60s.

We were rushed right by the bullet proofed painting no stopping barely time to look.

10. My little neighbor has 5 Golden Retrivers
plus a bunch of other animals and birds. The parrot can say "Down dogs, down" when they jump on the little girl. And they obey the bird and trot off to chase birds and run around the yard with fire logs or grapefruit in their mouths.

I am under the impression that Golden Retrievers love to swim. I was just wondering if they maybe live near a lake, river or other place where they can swim. I know Labs love to swim.

34. I was moved to Google
Golden Retrievers. Yes owners say they love to swim.

I also learned that one can purchase Dog Swimming Pools and I am very happy to know that. In the low country of South Carolina we lived at the edge of an alligator infested rice pond and swamp. We had to be very protective of our dogs. It was a short stay at that charming place.

31. My cat Max greets me ...
if he's in the house, he gets on the kitchen table, which is by the door and sits there, purring like mad.

If he's outside and sees me drive up, as I back into the driveway, he leaps on the front hood, jumps on the car roof and sits while I finish parking. He then waits til I step out and then climbs on my shoulder and sits there purring as I carry him in.

Who needs a dog?

32. Cats are cool too
by golly. We have had plenty of them. My very favorite was 'Madam Blue' A Russian Blue. She came to us from an unhappy home. And immediately become part ruler of our home. She and our German Shepherd Gresha became great buddies and shared ruling responsibilities.
