Attention gay and lesbian DUers: what do you like the about being gay?
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 10:41 AM by LostinVA
Here, I'll go first:

I like never having to freak out over when my last period was... and using all the extra money I would have spent on birth control buying Doc Martens.

It's just something that is.

3. I don't worry about my period either
but I'm not a lesbian. I'm just a single mom w/ no time for dating.

If I were a lesbian I'd enjoy freaking my boss out. That would be fun. She's one of those who believes in the "Agenda".

10. She's easy to rile up.
She got riled up yesterday over a simple conversation about me watching the newest Harry Potter before my daughter did. (My daughter is five and gets a bit too involved in movies so I had to fastforward two scenes that I knew would be too intense for her).

She stated that her grandchildren are not allowed to watch or read any of them. She also stated that children get too many ideas and she didn't want her grandchildren developing an interest in magic, since that would involve selling their souls to the devil.

72. My friend Mike once decided that if I was not married or a parent
by the age of 35 that he would be the father of my child. Since his one experience w/ a woman was not his cup of tea he decided that other means would have to be used.

For my 20th birthday he gave me a turkey baster w/ the instructions to save for a later time. After I had my daughter w/o his help (maybe I should have waited for him-he'd be a great father!)he informed me that I could use it for the Thanksgiving turkey instead.

To this day he says that my daughter should have been his.

27. Hey, can you tell me when that convention was where the gay agenda..
...was adopted?

I mean, to hear the right tell it, the vote must have been darn near unanimous to adopt it.
But none of my gay/lesbian friends can tell me anything about that convention, since they're all marching in lockstep to achieve it....teletubbies, sponge bob...all these nefarious characters.
Oh, and it must have been a worldwide convention, too.
I guess keeping it secret must be part of the agenda...

29. Later that night, September 17th,1787. The place: Woody's Bar.
After the Constitution was signed on this date, the radical leftist homosexual cabal met up at Woody's to start plotting the slow, meticulous take over of American culture.

In most history books, this appears as a footnote. And who reads footnotes, anyway?

36. I *like* scaring people at the mall
Seriously, I enjoy it. I'm pretty butch and my girlfriend is too, and I can almost read the thoughts of the mall-ites who see us holding hands in the American Eagle men's section as they cycle across their faces. It's like: "Men holding hands!! Wait, no.. boobs.. but, short hair! One man, one woman... with short hair? No... two women? What??" It's hilarious. You know when your dog is confused and it cocks its head all, "Barroo??" That's the expression.

The no birth control thing is nice. Also, I enjoy being able to dress however the hell I want because no one expects lesbians to be fashionable.

I also like wearing flannel shirts, tee shirts, and jeans and not understanding why I am seen as a fashion disaster by some other women. Also, I like being able to dote on my cats. They like that part too. Of course, a lot of straight people do that too, but it seems like having children keeps them from being able to do it as much. It depends on the person in that case.

66. It's boring and tedious.
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 07:46 PM by Jamastiene
March 14, 2006
I have to admit there is good and bad here, but I have to be honest too. There is mostly bad here. It IS a small town, after all. I am currently in community college to get an education so I can travel a bit more and maybe one day move. I at least want to see the rest of the country, especially the west. One day, I will be singing San Francisco, here I come. :P

Btw, Is it okay if I add this to my journal? I'm still trying to figure out how to add to it.

Wow! I love this feature. My first journal entry. "I'd like to thank the Academy, my cats, my agent, my band The Rusty Whatnots... Back to reality. This new feature is great, but I must quit daydreaming now.

Today has been a long one. I actually had a teacher say he didn't feel like answering my question after he said he would answer questions. Sigh. Too bad he did that. He is not getting a good evaluation from me. I have a long memory. I will remember that. THankfully in community college, teachers get evaluated. For the vast majority of teacher, it is a great way to combine what students want with what we need. Most teachers love to teach us what they know and share their knowledge. Next to punk rockers, and for obviously different reasons, teachers are some of my heroes.

I just finished a rough draft of my English paper. It is a report about Monster.com (I chose that one out of sheer ignorance of the whole "job market" internet world). I was suppposed to critique it and then create one of my own to show them up if possible. Anything is possible, I guess.

Montel was great today. He had Lou Dobbs on. I have mixed feelings about Lou Dobbs, but overall, I think is is one of us under the surface. They were as irrate as most of us are about Bush failing us in so many ways. Oh, and let me count those ways... They discussed how we can war endlessly and shove democracy down the throats of people in the Middle East, yet we can't even support our own here in this country. They discussed how the people of New Orleans, (well, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama too) were shafted during Hurricane Katrina. They were just as furious as we are on a daily basis on DU. God, I love this place. I'd go crazy without it.

Thanks to Skinner, Elad, and the others who made this place happen. It's like a hidden paradise you find that is so addictive you don't want to ever leave it. I hate real life. I live in a red state, North Carolina, and there are only a few of us here. The worst part is that I live in a small town chock full of Repukes and Republicrats with small minds and even smaller hearts. If DU didn't exist, I would completely die inside. Imagine a world where all you ever had dealings with was repukes and republicrats? It's not nice, let me tell you. Before DU, that's all I had. I hope there is no limit to how much I can put in this journal per posting. I don't have much time today to write much at all. And I still wrote enough to cause you, my lovely readers, to have to scroll. I promise I will work on my formatting and get better at this. Sometimes I will post thoughts for the day and other fun things on here. This is so great.

Love and hugs,
Jamastiene

69. I like not having to deal with stereotypical expectations
of what a woman should look and act like. I don't have to wear dresses, high heels and makeup if I don't want to. I can wear comfortable clothes, go without makeup and still have plenty of date prospects. Of course I enjoy dressing up, and occasionally wear makeup, but I like that I'm not expected to as a matter of course.

71. Interesting thread. As a straight woman I have to say, I've never once
worried about my period and when it was due...I've never once worried about what men or other people think of me and how I look, I never worry about my makeup, hair, clothes etc. I've never once worried about most of the stuff that I guess I should be worried about merely because I'm straight.

I think it all boils down to a person's own belief in themselves and who they are...gay or straight. :hi:

Hi Lost! How are you today...
