So Jack's at preschool. It's his first day...

and I'm feeling good about it, but my seven year old was practically in tears, this morning. I swear I haven't been scaring him! He had to know when Jack was going to be there, who was going to watch him, what would happen if a kid bit him, etc, etc, etc. He said he had a tummy ache, and he's "kinda sad" that I'm leaving Jack at preschool. I told him it was exciting, and Jack would have lots of fun. He's so empathetic, it never fails to amaze me. What a great big brother. :loveya:

1. I can hardly wait to hear how Jack's day went today!
And I'm so proud of his Mom for finding a good place, emotionally.

2. He didn't even blink when I walked away.
:) He's just going to have a riot. I took as many pics as I could before I left, but he was running all over the place! There was one moment that just struck me, and really centered me about it all. I was hanging up his coat and bag, and when I looked over, he was standing at a play table across from another child and they were smiling at each other. It was one of those moments where you realize that much of what you build up in your mind is just an illusion. He's going to make friends and be a friend, and that's a beautiful thing. :loveya:

20. Oh my goodness--
I brought my almost-2-year old grocery shopping the other night, and behind us in line there was a little 1-year old (okay, not "little"--I think she weighed more than my daughter, lol) sitting in the cart and we out the carts right next to each other and my daughter put her hand over the other girl's hand and smiled at her--it was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

She tried to play with every kid she saw at the toy store the other day too, lol. It seems like most parents don't really want their kids to have fun at toy stores--what's with that? I let Emily run around and check stuff out and play with bouncy balls and we had a great time...

I think it's harder on us than it is on them.

Make sure you have some cookies around after school today. I bet he'll work up quite an appetite!

8. Really great!
When I saw the thread title I wondered how you were doing. Glad everyone is well. And that is so excellent about the big brother. My little brother is finally unwary and at ease in my presence. I should have been nicer to him all along!

Thanks for the big smile I have now! :loveya:

16. Awww...
I cried all the way home when I dropped my oldest off for his first day of preschool, several years ago. HEewas scared though, so that made it really tough. Jack- he just took off and was right at home, making it much easier for me to leave.

15. Update: he's home and he had a "good morning"!
He didn't care too much when I showed up to pick him up- he obviously wasn't missing me too terribly! Apparently he was very busy and hugged a whole lot of his classmates. I was also told that several of the three and four year old girls in his class have declared that they are going to "take care of the little guy.":loveya: It's ALL GOOD!:bounce:

23. he's adorable!
congratulations on surviving the first day! It sounds like you have a wonderful family.

I also would like to point out that Jack is the greatest name ever. I love it! My dad's oldest brother was named Jack; just passed away about a year ago. It really makes me smile to see such a little man named Jack. Hoorah for Jack's first day!
