Poll question: Where should GOPisEvil go during his time off later this month?
OK folks, I just got the GRRRRREAT news that my leave for Dec. 29-Jan. 2 has been approved. So, allowing for holiday time off granted by my employer, my last day of work is Dec. 23 and I return to work Jan. 5.

So, after Christmas, I've got some time to travel, if I want. Where should I go? And, more importantly, on whose couch can I crash. :D

7. Canadian Rockies
Ski trip to the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

I've never been there, and am not much of a skier, but we've been planning that trip for the last 4 years, and it always gets bumped. I think you should go in our place and tell us all about it.

8. Actually, I'm considering that for a summer trip
Escape the heat, and see the scenery. I'm not a skiier either. Oh, prices are lower in the summer too.

One problem we had is we couldn't make up our mind to go in the winter, relax and do some light skiing, or go in the summer and do mucho biking and hiking. So we went to Europe last year instead (ok, I tagged along on my partner's business trip).

I hear the Canadian Rockies are very crowded in the summer. That was the downside of that option for us.

22. Dude - it's winter - escape the cold and go to Austin!
Warm there, and you can check out their great music scene. Maybe even get on Austin City Limits. Maybe someone from Austin could put you up for a few days?

I would also suggest NYC. You could stay here, 'cept I won't be back until Jan. 2, so that might be a problem.

48. If you could get to Spain, I highly recommend it.
The climate is warm. The people are warm. The orange juice is warm. The beer is warm. Scratch that last one. The orange juice is served room temperature, but not the cerveza. At least the oranges are fresh.

Wow. I'm not doing too great a job of selling Spain, am I? But don't take my word for it. Take thousands of years of history's word. Andalucia is the best! Granada is the best of Andalucia! The rest of Andalucia is not far behind.
