1. Going tomorrow, too tired last night
I know I'm going to throw stuff at the screen. I just know it. And tomorrow I just know I'm going to scream at Fundies about their dirty little war when they leave their church, I just know it.

2. I saw it yesterday
Very good movie. Scary how easily I can see some of that happening in real life.

3. Yes....loved it.....go!!!
It was very atmospheric, very well shot, the acting was terrific, and my wife and I loved it.

Very powerful story. And the parallels are chilling, nothing subtle about it at all. You can't help but get clobbered by the political ramifications of this.

The audience seemed to be getting into it. When the lights came up, I turned around to the teens behind us and said "WOW" and one of them said, "yeah, WOW".

6. How old?
There's some fighting violence, a few grisly shots of a mass grave, and a scene involving a lesbian couple, but nothing they can't see on the Fox station's movie at 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon.

Story-wise, it may be a little heavy for kids, and they may find it slow. The people in front of us had a child with them, I couldn't say how old he was.

I remember my sister taking me to Apocalypse Now when I was ten and it really made an impression.

(I wish I could find that pic of Barbara from the original miniseries - she worked with Martin, and the two of them made me hungry for a sandwich...)

I was thinking of the green lizard baby that died.

He was cute.

7. I liked it.
Although I can see why Alan Moore was so dead-set against this movie being made. It doesn't do justice to the comic; but then, it never had a hope of doing so.

To slim down the plot, the screenwriters cut out a lot of the original story. Most of the dialog was changed, and several of the more interesting characters were dropped. And there was one scene near the end, where the Wachowskies had clearly forgotten that this was *not* meant to be an action movie.

The original book was written at a time when the excesses of government were there, but not staring us audaciously in the face. The Wachowskies decided to "update" the story with some social commentary more suited to the current decade. Unfortunately, they don't know how to do social commentary, and what they produced was about as subtle as a 20-pound sledge between the eyes.

All that aside, this really is quite a good film. The acting is great, especially Hugo Weaving and John Hurt. The story is good too, despite its massive deviations from the original. Go see it.

8. LOVED it...the Wachowskis have indeed redeemed
themselves following Reloaded and Revolutions...it's a movie I want to see again.

AWESOME!!!

Boy do they let loose on using fear to control a populace. There is a scene in the movie that reminds me of the Eminem video Mosh.

SPOILER..............................................SPOILER.............................

Well, not really a spoiler but one of the songs used in the closing credits is by the Rolling Stones, I think it's Street Fighting Man (but I could be wrong).

WOW!!

BTN = FOX...

11. You're right about the song.
That particular mix is my favorite, especially the aggressive chords it opens with. It's on the album "Begger's Banquet".

Only the first two verses made it into the credits, unfortunately.

15. I can understand why some critics might not like it
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 02:21 PM by Heaven and Earth
There is a lot of narration, some of which probably wasn't necessary. The politics of the thing are about as subtle as a slap in the face on first glance. There isn't as much dramatic tension as there could have been, which lessened the emotional impact, IMHO.

Nonetheless, I liked it, and so did my non-political girlfriend. It was thought-provoking, because the hero is a lot more complicated than he appears. The overall message desperately needs to be disseminated as widely as possible.
