1. I liked it .
I am new to the Doctor Who series . So my expectations are not warranted because I never saw Doctors 1-8 . But I liked what I saw last night .

2. that'sgood.

The new series is definitely meant appeal to a new audience, while still keeping most of the hardcore fans happy.

Each episode is usually better than the last throughout the season, so if you liked the first two episodes, it only gets better from here.

6. casual fans, rather...
Hardcore fans may or may not enjoy it.

I can think of how the series may or may not do well.... but I can say I do want to find the sci-fi.com chat forum and defend the show from the BSG folks who keep bashing it (from what I've heard, of course...)

9. most hardcore fans are thrilled with the new series.
at least thats my impression. I frequent the biggest who forum (http://www.gallifreyone.com/forum/index.php) and most hardcore fans are prety happy.

Most of them are british, but that's to be expected. The hardcore fans over here (like myself) have already seen it by other means but are happy to finally have it reach a broader audience.

Rose is played by Billie Piper, who is/was a huge teen pop star in Britain. It'd be like having Britney Spears cast in a tv series over here. If that didn't hurt it in england then it should do fine over here. (of course it doesn't hurt htat billie piper can act).

3. I liked it.
I used to watch the old series when I was little, but I liked this one better. I must not be a purist, because I can live without the cardboard. :P

What's more, I got my son to sit down and watch it with me. He started out telling me that I was a huge geek, but turned to me during the second episode and said, "I like this show. It's kind of cool. But that guy *has* to get better controls for his space ship."

It was pretty fun. :)

5. I'm glad your son liked it as well.

In the UK it is a huge hit, and it is considered a 'family' program. Over here its more like a 'quirky british show'. This version is realy alot of fun though, it should do well, but you never know.

It is still much like the old series in some ways; The next episode has zombies (walking dead) and Charles Dickens in it.

7. I loved it!
It wasn't perfect, but it did capture the true feel of the original series (e.g. delightfully cheesy and tongue-in-cheek).
